Gun control in Europe is almost total. Hasn't stopped mass shooting attacks like Las Vegas

Within hours of the horrible attack in Las Vegas, before we knew most of the relevant facts about the tragedy, gun control advocates were calling for more gun control. Here is something I would like those advocates to consider: Europe, which has all the gun controls that are being pushed in the aftermath of the Las Vegas carnage, has actually suffered more bloodshed from these types of attacks than the U.S.

You heard that right: Countries such as France may have made all semi-automatic guns illegal, but that hasn’t stopped killers from getting fully automatic machine guns to use in mass shooting attacks. All four of the 2015 mass public shooting in France involved machine guns, including the 130 people killed in November of that year in multiple attacks including one at a concert venue.

In the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Europe saw machine gun attacks in airports and nightclubs by groups such as Black September and the Red Army Faction. In fact, machine guns are commonly used in mass shootings in the rest of the world.

And has only emboldened them into using bombs and trucks. #Progress! #Forward!

The thing people aren't really talking about is the false idea that libs will be satisfied with banning semi's or high capacity magazines. If you give them that (like full auto), they will come back for your fricking wheel guns and mossbergs the first time some a-hole blows away his baby momma with lead shot.

The issue is the left's dishonesty on guns control. They keep saying they aren't for confiscation, but anyone with a pulse can see its the end game -- not unlike single payor in Healthcare or a number of other extreme leftist positions that they lie about.

Did the rate go down after the laws were passed?

How many do they have compared to us?

You feel this way about a ruger mini 14? oh wait those are ok if they have no added pistol grip like most right? instead of the factory basic stock?

ahhh yes the SCARY GUN versus not so scary gun when both are semi autos and both can do damage being they are same caliber and both can use box magazines.

There were 55% more casualties per capita from mass public shootings in EU than US from 2009-15

quote:

The CPRC has also collected data on the worst mass public shootings, those cases where at least 15 people were killed in the attack. There were 16 cases where at least 15 people were killed. Out of those cases, four were in the United States, two in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. But the U.S. has a population four times greater than Germany’s and five times the U.K.’s, so on a per-capita basis the U.S. ranks low in comparison — actually, those two countries would have had a frequency of attacks 1.96 (Germany) and 2.46 (UK) times higher. Small countries such as Norway, Israel and Australia may have only one major attack each, one-fourth of what the U.S. has suffered, but the US population is vastly greater. If they suffered attacks at a rate adjusted for their population, Norway, Israel and Australia would have had attacks that were respectively 16, 11, and 3 times greater than the US.

Crime Research Prevention

This isn’t a relative small sample size given it only encompasses 6 yrs 2009-2015. But you can see European countries with much stricter gun laws and regulation still had the same or more mass shootings as US.

Why does anyone think that banning or confiscating guns will fix any of these issues? Just look at how well making certain drugs illegal has worked out.

There is no truer saying than "if guns are outlawed then only outlaws will have guns"

I bslieve in the second amendment and all, but strictly going by mass shootings is cherry picking data.

Why not compare total homicides and gun deaths per capita?

I own an ar15 and its a fantastic hunting rifle and target rifle. I also feel comfortable defending my home with it in the event of an antifa attack.

And let's be honest. If you took those, you would be back here within a year telling me that noone needs a rifle that can penetrate armor, or a seven shot revolver, or a shotgun chokes that allow 40 inch spreads at close range.

It's always the same. You don't even understand what you aim to regulate and you sure as hell don't understand why the framers sought to ensure this right.

I believe you are missing the overall point. The UK has banned guns and knives. The last I heard you could only have a gun or use one at the shooting range-- as you left you turned the gun in.

Even with all of the bannings of all knives and guns the terrorists are using trucks in Europe and it has been reported at times after plowing people they are hopping out and knifing police and others.

So you can ban everything and they will find a way to kill with a truck or blackmarket weapons.
