I was referring to the posters comment. I don't know their religion but I suspect it's a chapel like those in a Vegas every street corner. It doesn't appear that they hold services there other than weddings. Regardless, I still believe they'd fall under a religious exception

What I said was no church will be compelled to officiate in a gay wedding. And I said it's analogous to a divorced person attempting to be married in the Catholic Church or a Jew marrying in the Catholic Church or a woman becoming a priest. It would not stand the test of strict scrutiny.
Can anyone try? Of course. The mayor of Houston tried to subpoena church sermons. Doesn't mean the will.

This will not survive constitutional challenge. I predict even some of the left-wingers (other than Ginsburg) on the supreme Court would vote against it.

sure it will, this is a for profit business, not a religious institution.
until such time as they go non profit, tax exempt and accept donations instead of legal tender I would be surprised if the Scotus would even entertain it.
By the way I love the reporting source for this story, not once did they mention it was a for profit business accepting public funds....
they just went straight to the Poor Christians being persecuted card. Checkmate Atheists.

Businesses should be free to serve who they want to. How can the government force a business to provide someone a service? Where does the constitution force a business to work for anyone that comes through the door? That is basically forced labor. If I own a business, I should be able to select my clients/customers for any reason whatsoever. If I don't want to serve gays or jews or muslims or even christians, that should be my right. I wish the government would get hell of out of the way. We become the nanny state more and more every day.

This way a business owner would have the choice of sticking to his/her principles or going out of business.

Also, a wedding chapel refusing to marry gays in Idaho has a very low chance of going out of business over that. San Francisco might be a different story.

This is not about a wedding chapel or cakes or anything else. This is about one group of people trying to force their beliefs down the throat of another group and using the power of the gov. to do it. The LGBTXYZ groups have become the bullies they claimed to despise in the first place. And that is why people who had no opinion in the first place are beginning to hate them. Kooky right
