There was a hospital across the road? Nobody thought to run over there and get medical help?
This is what's so upsetting to me...

Well the administrator doing the bitching about lack of help said the help you speak of wasn't necessary.
As Richard Pryor use to say - the bitch be crazy.

I've said this in other threads and it is just as applicable here-
They should not have been given a license to operate without an adequate evacuation plan in place. That is exactly the kind of shite city/town/county councils should concern themselves with - but no no, they'd rather spend their time bitching about frivolous shite. (Oh the stories I could tell. Having had to deal with these frickers time and time again I can tell you that they are all fricking useless.)
How is it that a nursing home in Florida is allowed to operate without having a plan to deal with hurricanes. Florida! It isn't like hurricanes are some unexpected thing. They shouldn't be calling the Governor's office for help. Imagine if everyone called them for help... then you'd get exactly what you have here - a small group of government people trying to aid a frickton of people whom couldn't be bothered to plan ahead.

I googled this place and then looked at it on a map and when they said the hospital was directly across the street they weren’t lying!!! There is a HUGE hospital literally 20-30 feet away from them...someone needs to be locked up.
