Worst since recession and this going into midterms isn't the way to hold a Senate majority.

It will take major league incompetence for Republicans to not sweep Dems out of office this cycle.

So what you're saying is that you expect the Dems to hold the Senate, right? ;)

You call it incompetence, I call them spineless pussies....

Either way, I doubt we will be much better off with the current batch of spineless pussies that could potentially take the Senate.

While this number is huge, I'm sure the media and the administration have their shite together on how to spin it and what Republicans are to blame for it. Somehow I suspect Bush had something to do with this as well.

I'm not saying Republicans are the better option, I'm just saying that is a huge change to the economy shrinking. I don't know how you make that terd smell any better.

Rangel and Cochran both got re-elected last night. 99% of the populace has no clue what GDP is. This country still needs/wants more lashes. Thank you sir may I have another.

Actual link to a news article about this:

What was the 4th quarter of last year? Two quarters of negative growth mean a recession. Wonder what the 2nd quarter will be?

Listening to Clark Howard last night and he mentioned public optimism on the economy is highest in 7 years, personal financial wellbeing (perception) is very high, consumer spending is way up etc.

Too lazy to look up the data he was citing.

"Consumer spending," huh?

I recall consumer spending was up in the winter because of colder weather and higher electric bills, and earlier this year because of higher health care spending.

Is that really something to brag about?

There were several last night talking about voting against the GOP out of spite, so who knows.

Add one more to the "Blame Bush" column --

This scoreboard has to be from 2009. By now the "Blame Bush" column has to have at least 3,462 points.

Based on what I've been reading, weather was a contributing factor, but it's a little deeper than that overall.

So it was -2.9% or it was down 2.9% from what was expected?

Also, I thought the initial was -.1% not -1%

the Republicans are standing at the plate....bases loaded.....behind a couple runs....and the ball is pitched....it's a mediocre fastball....it's headed straight for the heart of the plate...

For some reason, I just can't see them swinging

It was originally expected to rise 2.6%.

The final tally is that it declined 2.9%.
