The U.S. economy turned in its worst quarter in five years during the first three months of 2014, shrinking more sharply than previously estimated.

The nation's gross domestic product in the first quarter fell at a 2.9% annual rate vs. the 1% contraction previously believed, the Commerce Department said Wednesday. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expected a 1.8% drop in output from the fourth quarter.

Probably the perfect analogy.

Somehow, they would swing, miss, hit themselves in the chest with the bat, and knock their own wind out.

I always love reading this excuse. No other President has ever had to deal with cold weather.

I also don't remember these cnn type articles that say 2.9% contraction isn't a bad thing when Bush was in office. I remember articles about how horrible 1% growth was.

Better yet, they try to steal home and the batter swings, subsequently hitting the runner with the bat and knocking him out...

Can I get an analysis as to how Bush did this 6 years out of office?

Where is Rex?

We are going on 7 years of unprecedented monetary and fiscal stimulus. The fed's balance sheet will top $5 trillion this year and GDP last quarter was -3%.

Just think how bad it would have been without teh Beard's guidance.

Oh most def...

But likely, the runner on second took 3rd during the play and on the next pitch, they attempt to steal home again and again the batter swings and misses

Negative growth with the kind of stimulus the fed has enacted for the past six years is a sobering reality.

In the short term to blunt an economic "trauma", I think the Keynesian theory is palatable.

Over the long term, like six years, it is a failed theory.

Nah. It works. Ira just that it just wasn't big enough. (Don't they say that every time it fails? )

Oh yeah, and it's republicans fault for keeping it small. (Check the voting!)
