Find a New Bogeyman, The KKK is Dead and Gone

Come on people. The KKK hasn't been relevant for 40 years, and even then it was only on Jerry Springer and the Phil Donahue show.
I wish people would just STAHP talking about them like they mean shite. They don't.
Trump or Bannon cannot empower a group that doesn't exist.
Their movement has been dead for decades. There are at most 8,000 KKK members (and that's from the SPLC's routinely inflated numbers.) They're dead and gone and only used as a bogeyman every four years or so.
Most of the 320 million people in this country see them as a joke because they are. They're amusing and impotent. Most of the acts attributed to them in the lead up to the election and after have been proven to be hoaxes.
Whether an idiot, has been like David Duke sees or infers something in Trump or Bannon's words is irrelevant.
And I'm not sure Bannon has ever been a white supremacist. He's a western civilization supremacist, and if I'm honest with myself, I find it hard to disagree that western civ is vastly superior on almost every measurable metric to any other civilization past or present.
Don't abandon nuance for convenient and easy to digest soundbytes. Or you'll end up like CNN. Easily fooled and untrusted.

Been waiting for one of the talking heads to say this. Even the liberal ones should know this but are too dishonest to do so. Even the white supremacist shite, does anyone actually know one?

SPLC is a freaking joke how can you have a hate map and don't list BLM groups?

I will preface this post by saying the reign of the KKK from 1882-1968 is a scar in US history. I am not trying to diminish what some Africans Americans were put through and I understand the fear these letters can still generate.
Having said that the KKK is dead. It's dead in enrollment and changed in its mission.
I think it is very irresponsible if not damaging to prey on the African American community's peace of mind for political gain. Especially coming from Barack Obama, an elected black president in a country made up of 16% black citizens.
The victim mentality narrative for every gender/race/ethnicity was created to try and win this election, and now we are paying for it on our streets and god knows how long in people's subconscious.
Some facts:
-1925 KKK had 4 million members, US population was only 114 million. 3.5% of population
-Todays KKK is estimated to have between 5-8k members, US population 322 million. .001% of population
- More blacks are murdered by other blacks every 6 months in the US than the KKK lynched in their entire 86 year heyday from 1882 to 1968.
- About as many blacks have been murdered by other blacks in Chicago alone under Obama's presidency (~3,500) as the KKK lynched in the United States during their 86 year heyday (3,446) from 1868 to 1962.
^ that number is reached in black abortions every 4 days in the US by the way.
- Over twice as many blacks have been murdered by other blacks in Chicago as US troops have been killed in the war in Afghanistan since 2001.
What does the KKK look like now? -USA Todayquote:
"We've had a few members who have become bad apples, and the whole organization is overall cast in the same light," Ancona said.
Today, the KKK does background checks on new members in an effort to screen applicants for violent crimes and drug abuse, he said
Nobody supports them, they are a small racist social club not a large militant group with influence.
Those 3 letters are the least of your worries as an African American in today's United States. They hit an emotional chord however, and that is the only intent in their use.

The only 2 people I am aware of that were KKK and on a "national" level are Robert Byrd and David Duke.
Both democrats when they were active in the Klan!!!!
Duke changed party affiliation only after Louisiana went Republican. An opportunist is all he is.

I totally agree. And I'm a dem.
But that means conservatives will have to stop bringing up Byrd, who is actually dead. And since that's not happening........

Just shows the hypocrisy of the left. They defend Byrd as a changed man but will ridicule Jeff Session over something he said in the 80s. Keep in mind, Sessions was never in the KKK but you know.....the left is full of shite anyway so it doesn't matter.

Sure but that cuts both ways. The right can be every bit as hypocritical.
You just started a thread about the irrelevance of the KKK, but know well and good the right loves to hammer home the point about Byrd. How is that not the exact same thing you just said????
We're not the only ones full of shite. Just being honest.

They bring up Byrd because the left is constantly hanging on the term racism and trying to fit any narrative that supports the right wing as KKK enablers. How dare the right bring up a black eye for the left yet I've seen 100 reddit threads calling Sessions a KKK loving racist. Got to love it.

The Klan will always be active in some capacity, they lost their luster decades ago. But, after the election, they will not blame Clinton so they will blame any white male on the right.

My point is simple, if Byrd doesn't get a pass for what he did in the 50s (and I'm not defending the guy) sessions doesn't get a pass for what he did in the 80s.
Or are we not even pretending to be consistent with anything?

Byrd will always get a pass because he was a democrat. Sessions is a white male from the South, he is the anti-christ to lefties.

One was in the KKK
Youre comparing two things that aren't even remotely in the same playing field.

Not to the people on this board. Not in 2016. Not even a little bit.
If you want people to stop bringing up the kkk, start w stop bringing up the kkk yourself. Just a suggestion.

It doesn't matter where he's from. He's a white male. That is the reality of the matter.
