The response is actually smart, if they go in and bash heads like should happen the media and racists will holler police brutality. Let them destroy their crappy weave shops and liquor stores and protect the police station and fire department. Win-win for the good guys.

Yep, blame the police. Too much force. Too little force.

But hey, at least it's a peaceful protest. Just a few outside agitators. None of those kids looting the liquor store were locals. Guess they were provoked by the police who didn't show up to stop them.

Looks like their bearcats are Reagan era Suburbans with armored personnel shells. Not exactly state of the art military equipment. Those cops seem to be surprisingly effective with tear gas canisters though.

MSNBC reported no gas being used, only smoke.
Police have admitted to CNN that they are using tear gas.

I staunchly oppose rioting, but from what I can tell, the Ferguson police is pretty terrible.

Problem isn't Ferguson PD from what I had been hearing leading up to tonight...

DOJ and "Unified Command" in St Louis put a lot of restrictions on the cops to the point where they have been telling people for a while now that the cops would be unable to protect them when shite met fan like tonight.

Ferguson PD likely gets the blame from the general public but Eric Holder, the DOJ, Gov Nixon, and Mayor Slay should own this clusterfrick by limiting what the cops could do and negotiating "rules of engagement" with these idiots.

Police are not deploying tear gas. They are using #smoke to break up unruly crowds. #Ferguson

Where the looting of the liquor store is I don't see any cops.

If they were there they would be accused of drinking on duty.

The cops had no chance. if they go in and stop this they get destroyed by the media and the administration.

The thugs knew it and took full advantage. They will be back for more tomorrow night, no one will stop them. This is on the coddlers in the DOJ.

Honestly they should have made a statement that any people violently rioting will be shot. This is rediculous and should be stopped.

Meanwhile the city with all of the businesses and residences are left without any police or order.

Wonder where all the national guard people were during the night? I might have missed them but all I saw was police in black attire and regular police vehicles.

Anyone see any guardsmen during the mayhem?

The mayor of Ferguson claims he repeatedly requested help from the Guard but got ignored.

Let's see Jay Nixon explain that one.
