So they paid said informant $132,000, he gathered significant information and warning signs specific to this event and they just let the informant go alone and there wasn't a single FBI agent there as well? There's some failure in that as well if that is true. I'm definitely not a security or counter terror expert, but sometimes common sense has value too.

First. frick off noob. Post less. As long as they tipped off the local police about the threat and who was carrying it out it's ok.

According to local police they didn't give them any information about it. Any other ideas?

They couldn't kill them until they gave the FBI cause to use the snipers that had red dots on them.

The one guy was investigated between 2007 and 2010 and then jailed for a bit. The FBI only opened up a new investigation 2 weeks before the attack, and then only communicated through tweets and social media. The agent assigned to make contact with the terrorist, and likely others, went to the contest. It is not clear that he even knew the other guys were in the car ahead of him.
It was an agent, not the informant.

Interesting. Article says informant was there in the car behind them, but then also says an FBI agent was 30 ft away and took cell phone video. I honestly must have read over the agent with the cell phone the first time I read the article. That's a bit disturbing. I think I'm going look up the 60 minutes segment also.
I got the electronic only communication, but they still communicated, especially with the communications the day before with the informant. I didn't know they only knew about him for two weeks though, $132,000 for what ended up being a two week job for the informant is a huge payday. Couldn't have known that at the time, but that's a lucky informant.

Unfortunately you are going to get mistakes when a Congressman is relaying info from something he watched on TV. The parts about the agent in the car were relayed by the lawyer for a guy sentenced to 30 years for assisting in the attack, so you have to add another degree of separation as well as some bias.

Ah. Ok, the $132k was for 3 years of work according to the transcript.
So Simpson lied about traveling overseas to wage jihad and was given 3 years probabtion. Sounds about right. They also saw him communicating with Isis in Raqqa and still ended the investigation until two weeks before the attack.
The Maynard guy seems genuinely shocked the agent there didn't take action as well.
Thanks for the link. That's more information that I didn't know of. I'm even more concerned about it now. Lol

Obama was bad for this country. This story is another example of why.

Touché. I should have said "stopped monitoring".
