Ok. I'll roll with it. MS was blue in several national elections. So it was, in fact, the DEMOCRATS who were the racists. Got it. Thanks for proving the article right.

So your thread title is misleading. I read your OP and it asserts that being Republican in the South, not the South in general, means one isn't racist. Which your "gotcha" reply repeats over and over. Then you say:

I made this point in one of my replies earlier in the thread...

So everyone is racist, including the South? Including recent examples, which occurred after the Civil Right Movement (surely, you don't contend that the 90's and 2000's were before the Civil Rights Movement)...

So let's get this right:

1) You admit EVERYONE is racist.
2) I provided recent examples of Southern racism.

Yet you contend that "the South is racist" is a myth.

Are you high? The term "racist South" implies that the South is more racist than other areas. It's fairly simple.

Isn't it? Whenever I read OT sections of sports boards for southern schools there's lots of racial stuff, but very little on northern counterparts. Also, having traveled quite a bit, my observation is that racism among whites is at least somewhat proportional to the black population.

Anyone who thinks anywhere in the south is more racist than NY, NJ, MASS, & PA needs to get out more.

There's racism everywhere, but there's less of it in places with only one race.

Anywhere you have multiple cultural clashes you will have "racism."

Agreed. I didn't care for Crash, but the simmering racial tensions in a multicultural place like L.A. was pretty accurate. I laughed at people that said that they thought otherwise and that L.A. had no such tensions.

Sure there is some degree of racism in most places in the U.S. However, anyone who tries to deny the particularly blatant and virulent strain of the phenomenon in the South is fricking kidding themselves.
