quote:

Thursday, on ESPN “First Take” co-host Max Kellerman shared his reaction to Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett comparing free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick to boxing legend Muhammad Ali

quote:

Kellerman admitted the two athletes are very different, but said the two are similar in that neither “went out looking for a protest.”

The ESPN personality then argued that Kaepernick did not inject politics into the NFL, but rather the NFL injects politics by playing the national anthem and “putting pressure” on people to stand.

I have no words to describe the level of stupidity we've reached.

He's completely right.

Even the colors of the shield and their fetish for the military invoke it.

Not saying it's wrong but let's not play dumb

All
Of the anti- kaep Leaks, which are pushed by the league, their donations and affiliations with certain parties, and their potential collusion against Kaep all suggest that they won't "stick to sports."

In fact hey never have.

So just being patriotic and showing respect for the country you live in is political? I would disagree, you don't use your left hand if you're liberal and your right if you're republican. We all should stand and honor our flag, it's America.

I'm not even sure I am replying correctly considering you said he's right, not saying it's wrong, let's not play dumb. It didn't quite make sense to me.

So do high schools 'inject politics' into football by playing the national anthem as well?

This is a dumb argument and shouldn't be given any serious thought.

I should correct myself and say it can invoke politics and maybe times it is used to do so.

Yes it was used in high school because kids were suspended for it. And many of the anti kaep folks were / are right wingers.

There's a long history of the great flag being distorted and used to show quasi xenophobic nationalist pride. Yes a great thing like our flag can even be used to spew sad unAmerican hate

Football fans are typical red-blooded Americans. Liberals hate the archetypical male. He fricks it all up for them: working, shooting guns, driving trucks, and fricking women.

The national anthem is a boring song and i wish we could skip it altogether. Just admit it. The song sucks and people turn into robots. Its the ultimate groupthink excersize.

If you and Max Kellerman don't like it don't watch or give the NFL your money. Kindly tell them to f' off. The NFL is a private company and they can play the national anthem before the games if they want to or not.
