He can't even build a car without government subsidies; and they aren't all that reliable. Why is he now the Oracle of Delphi?

Paying people not to work has never been successful.
The entire concept of UBI is that people have their basic needs met.. food, shelter, utilities.. anything extra has to be earned. There will always be those who are content with the basics. The vast majority of the population will be happy to work, innovate, and create.
I wouldn't stop working if my basic needs were met.. would you? I'd be able to take risks and create or innovate.

I wouldn't work a 9 to 5 job if my basic needs for myself and my family were met. I would spend that time being creative.

If machines put people out of jobs, I can see another economy forming outside the official one. A black market on steroids where folks engage in trades, etc. all w/o AI involvement.

You are in dreamland. The vast majority of people would just go live on the beach sit around party, watch TV and play video games.

This idea has certainly evolved since 1968 and shifted in structure and thinking, but like always

Exactly. It's always funny when the dorks start touting the wonders of a post-work/post-scarcity world. If such a world comes to fruition, you'll see the same bullshite people do with the their spare time (namely, the activities you mention). For most of the nerds that say that shite, being innovative means developing a new strategy in Halo.
I do think the parks and tourist areas will be crowded, though, unfortunately.

We turn down work (money) every day because it simply isn't worse the effort. Do you think taking more from us will make us want to grow more? Do you think we will work ever more harder for another's benefit? Why will we produce only to have the results of that effort taken by those that produce nothing?

Individuals are more "job locked" than ever --because thanks to our "healthcare" reform he individual market has been descimated into complete inaffordibility.

I'm sure next time it will be different, though...

No. Just no. Why should I give you my taxes, so you can skim your massive gov cut before giving it back to me?

Consider this
Their Utopia of all the basic needs experiment has failed in every prison in the world.
Bad people are just bad people.
Also consider the US. We already have basic needs taken care of in this country.
Tell me who here really doesn't have food, clothing and shelter taken care of and we have the highest prison population in the world.

You pretty much nailed it.
This is just more marxist Utopia bullshite.

I'm sure they said the same thing about the tractor. There isn't a limit to goods and services people demand or are willing to pay for/have done.

What's to stop inflation from happening
If everyone is given, for example, $2500 in UBI, what is to stop landlords from charging $2000 rent, for example, knowing everyone out there has $2500 coming in per month.
Wouldn't it just raise the baseline cost of goods and services.

Because in their world the government will own everything.
