You're right. The problem is, just like criminal investigations, the evidence appears to be collected to only confirm a theory rather than the evidence informing a theory and being tested it on either side.

It's disturbing, but obviously that makes it harder to ignore.

The problem is that, like with most exteme and sensationalistic events, we are prone to relying on the availability heuristic to form our judgements and then we overrate how frequent and prevailing something is (like plane crashes; suicide attacks; and crime in general).

For example, because a couple social conservative politicians who were strongly against homosexuality, were actual homosexuals themsleves, people seem to think many of the other social conservative politicians are gay themsleves. I think that is a good comparison for this topic.

That's awesome. But seriously, even if not a primary "job" there are many ways to advocate for children. And on a related note, the "social justice warrior" mentality had rightfully been criticized; however, I've met some amazing social workers who show (not unlike Jesuits) that real "social justice" can be great and is nothing like the SJWers and their attention-seeking.
