Do you think we'll ever see legislation that decreases the power of the FDA/AMA?

These two heinous organizations limit the supply of medicine and doctors greatly, which forces poor people to pay more, as basic economics tells us. frick this garbage. For some reason, these two draconian institutions escape criticism in the healthcare debate.

WTF are you babbling about? The AMA is not a government entity. What legislation would you propose to limit their power?

The AMA has had a government-granted monopoly on the healthcare system for over 100 years. It has intentionally restricted the number of doctors allowed to practice medicine so as to raise physician incomes artificially. The primary way it does this is by using the coercive power of the state to restrict the number of approved medical schools in operation. After the AMA created its Council on Medical Education in 1904, state medical boards complied with the AMA's recommendation to close down medical schools.

Neither of those entities has been responsible. The main players are the gov't, private insurance, and big pharma.

Are you for real? You think physician incomes are inflated? You're clueless. Plus the AMA has no say so in the number of residency slots available. Private insurance and gov't policies are the main driver in the costs of healthcare.

The AMA represents something like 17% of physicians nationwide. I always get renewal letters from when I was a resident member which I now happily trash. They are terrible and don't represent the interests of physicians at all.
