I had the pleasure of listening to Kenneth Polite, Jr. speak last night. Such an impressive and inspirational guy. Since he was appointed by Obama, will he basically be automatically replaced when Trump is sworn in?

I seem to remember a big backlash when Bush did this in 2001.

They don't have to leave but who in the their right mind would turn down a salary of probably 10-20 times as much working for a private firm?

Perhaps the ones within the DOJ, but no not all U.S. Attorneys. That would include every U.S. prosecutor (U.S. ADAs and DA) in every division of the district courts. Most of those people are career U.S Attorneys.

money isn't everything.

This guy is married to a doctor. I doubt they are hurting for cash.

U.S. District Attorneys is one of the more cushy jobs in the legal world. I would retire there if I could get in.

are you being obtuse or really asking?

because I find it hard to believe that you are not aware that some attorney's do retain their jobs; some high level cabinet members will serve a president that is not in their party

case in point, Colin Powell served under George Bush (SWIDT?)

some US Attorney's will retain their position because of their integrity & reputation for doing an outstanding job, regardless of what their personal politics are

I have no clue about the guy you mentioned though...

Thanks

It seemes like that would be a shitload of people to appoint at once.

I should just add that the vast majority of attorneys working for the feds are not hired/appointed by the higher ups in the executive branch. Across the country, there are far more U.S. ADA's than any other type of government lawyer. They are hired and fired by the District DA. This doesn't even include Federal Public Defenders, who are technically US Attorneys, who are hired by the appointed judges of each district.

I'm really asking. Not sure if they submit resignation as a courtesy but not necessarily with the intention or desire to vacate their position.

I had never thought about it until I met Polite.

Everything about this is wrong. That's impressive.

Polite's predecessor, Jim Letten, was appointed by Bush and reappointed by Obama.

Yep, and almost nothing was said when Bill Clinton did the same thing.

Exaggerate much?

It's like a default fault with you lefters... you take normal issues and stretch them out into over-the-top stuff for no reason.

Try to conversate without all the drama.

The Senators are going to be real involved with these appointment or their re-up. A lot of behind the scenes disscussions will happen for decision making. Some Representatives will input, but mostly Seanators. Most change, but some that are really competent like Rudy Gulliani was, will stay.
