Taxing healthier alternatives makes those alternatives more expensive for poors.
Diet soda is much worse for you than regular soda, ironically.

Seattle is a transplant city. We already experienced those cities and we moved.

I'm generally cool with taxing stupidity. Lottery tickets, sugar water, not a dollar from me.

Nothing ironic about it because its complete horseshite.Diet soda ain't the greatest thing in the world for you but to call it "much worse" than regular soda is completly absurd.
There was one "study" that came out about 5 years ago that stated the that people gained more weight drinking diet soda than regular and the "study" was completly debunked.

It's got nothing to do with weight gain. The artificial sweeteners absolutely assault your kidneys.

I switched to diet several years ago, and after about 2 weeks, my kidneys were hurting and my doctor told me why.

I'm all for people making better life choices, but liberals are doing it wrong. We need to better educate the next generation of Americans on good food choices not use the government as a means of forcing them to eat properly.

You didn't have "fast food" and genetically modified everything in the 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. Most parents born and raised in this time period didn't exactly stress to their kids the evils of eating too much McDonalds or drinking too many cokes. They ate a lot of fast food and drank a lot of cokes too because it was easy and quick to obtain (convenient for modern life styles) as well as cheap. If you're eating McDonalds all the time as a kid, what's to stop you from doing the same thing as an adult?

Over time, the profit motive has led food producing companies to put so much garbage into their foods to cut cost and to preserve shelf life. We are just now starting to see the negative effects this is having on American health, but we are absolutely inundated with advertisements for crap food/drinks. You really have to make a contentious effort to find healthy alternatives.
