Dems scared she's going to enact what they should have done decades ago.

Open the schools up to choice, end the brainwash factories, prepare students for success.

This is going to be huge for inner cities.

My 17 year old daughter told me yesterday that one of her teachers told her class that Devos is a bad choice because she is advocating "ending" public schools. She was echoing his argument. I took it as a teaching moment and asked what she knew about Devos. She knew nothing. I then spent about an hour with her researching her ideas and positions. She realized that her teacher was full of shite and I asked her what she thought would motivate her teacher to embellish the facts. She then learned about teachers unions and the fear they have of school choice.

It was really a good exercise for her to learn not to simply echo things she hears without doing some research on the facts.

This is some seriously good parenting on your part. You're teaching your daughter to think for herself. Mad props on a job well done.

Ok. You really need to learn how to articulate your points without insults.

It's not an insult if what you said was really stupid.

And it was. Sorry.

The Department of Education was created by Jimmy Carter in 1979 as a payback to the teachers unions.

Our education standards and results have went down ever since.

Why do we need the DoE?

What you did there, I see it......hope you do too

Damn, a parent that takes time to sit and talk to his child for more than five minutes. Your a good dad but I'm more impressed by your daughter actually giving you the time to make your case. I'd consider that a special moment in today's world.

The Sec of Ed has little authority to do anything and the Dept of Ed is basically a toothless organization. I don't understand the hyperbole from opponents.

Yes, she is going to shut down the gravy train for worthless, glorified babysitters and they are pissed.

Lets talk about how the transgender and queer approbation insanity is killing people by encouraging them to adopt unhealthy lifestyles.

Does anybody else see the hypocrisy from the left???

They want the choice to kill unborn babies, but if the child is born they don't want the parent to have a choice of school to educate it

Same argument applies for healthcare

She is the oldest of 4 and very intelligent. In fact, she will be either Val or Sal this year and her hard work through middle and high school has resulted in the highest (Presidential) academic scholarship awards at two colleges she has applied to.

This just demonstrates how people (not just kids) are susceptible to echoing the ideas of people they consider as authority figures. She and I have had similar conversations in the past and this is just an exercise that needs to be reinforced as she is soon to be exposed to secondary academia.

You can always tell when commies are threatened. They whip out the dooms-day scenarios and dead children rhetoric.

And, if any of you don't buy the commie label, let me refer you to the Communist Manifesto, plank 10:

quote:

10. Free education for all children in government schools.

LINK

Teachers of the world, UNITE!

fricking commies.

The DoE's responsibility under DeVos should be:

1. Drag the US into an era of school choice where the quality of your education depends on your own ambition, goals, and priorities rather than what zip code you can afford to live in.

2. Dismantle itself.

The teacher's union, as an entity, has a financial interest in grooming future democrat voters. As the Podesta emails have show, they want an electorate of ill informed drones, as the useful idiots seen in the Berkeley protest

Giving vouchers allows parents that would not have been able to send their kids to private schools the opportunity to. Many of these schools will be Christian schools.
And if there is one thing a true believer Marxist social democrat progressive teacher absolutely hates, it's a Christian.

They have worked tirelessly to keep minorities voting democrat and they have corrupted the information taught with anti american and anti capitalist Marist propaganda.

They fear vouchers will threaten their vote mill that they have worked 30 years to build. Frick the kids, social democrat future voting blocks are at risk, and to an " ends justify the means" progressive , that is all that matters.

Power
Control
Mind manipulation
Building anti capitalist democrat voters
That's why the don't want vouchers. Don't let the frocking progressive posters lie to you about it.
