Despite immigration, I think building the wall is a great idea

Build something along the lines of the Great Wall of China, where there is a wide walkway along the top. And even after the immigration issue becomes a moot point, think of all the tourism that structure will attract for centuries to come

I'm sure many of you will take your families there on a family vacation.

There are many areas in that part of the country that could use tourist dollars

I could imagine people already visiting Tombstone, Grand Canyon, Alamo, etc would make a day trip to the border for that??

We should paint the side facing Mexico to match the landscape on US side

I say build the Wall, make it a big bike/travel path on top and people would love it.

I think we should take some unclaimed Mexican bodies out of the morgue and create a fake news story saying that US Marine snipers shot them. That should stop illegals from crossing for a while. But build the wall anyway.

Keynes would be crying tears of joy as he smashed windows if he could read this thread.

WHere in the frick would anyone sleep, get something to eat or even a bottle of water or a gallon of gas? Most of the area is so remote it would take a serious survivalist to survive a car breaking down. I don't think most people on the east coast and the mid-west and the NW have any idea how remote and rugged and naturallu deadly the majority of the border between the US and Mexico is. Driving in the area is akin to going offshore in a boat by yourself with no communication equipment....one bad break...a flat tire, stuck thermostat, broken serpentine belt and your life is truly in peril within a few hours...it is a beautiful part of the world though...but it can and has been deadly for many people who weren't aware of just how alien it is to most life forms...

Day trip from the Grand Canyon isn't likely...about 6 hours to Yuma....it is a VAST area out here....something that folks from the east coast and the midwest can't truly comprehend until they have lived in this part of the world...2 hours at least for most people to a regional airport and 4-6 to any sort of international airport....35 miles at least between towns so small they may not even have a gas station...signs that literally warn you that the next services are close to 200 miles away.....interstate exits 25 miles apart and which lead to nowhere for hours....literally driveways entering the interstates out here....with mail boxes and usually a flag pole and maybe a gate....but the house is so far off the road you'd think it didn't exist....

If you want the liberals to get on board they should build that high speed rail line they are always talking about on top of it. Win-Win.

They get a train to play with and we can keep the boarder secure.

I'm not sure you understand supply and demand, nor how tourism works. Youre on the same side of history like those that mocked building the 1st casino near Las Vegas, or Disney buying up all that swamp land near Orlando.

Can you imagine running some marathons on that bad boy. Put a Mexican joint every few miles with bottomless margaritas. Nice bathroom (the best bathrooms).

Really? SO a casino in the 50's and a theme park in the 60's and 70's has the same attraction a a wall and a bicycle path literally in the middle of nowhere today?

At the end of building a casino in the desert you have a casino....

At the end of building a theme park in the middle of a swamp you have a casino...

At the end of building a wall in the middle of nowhere you have a wall in the middle of nowhere...something that mom and dad can no doubt easily sale to a generation of kids who can't go outside without a drum of sunblock and engineered clothing which prevents them from actually being outside as a bucket list vacation destination...

You know what? There is already a BEAUTIFUL national park in one of the more accessible areas of the border....well within your day trip parameters...and almost no one ever visits it...in fact there are two and neither of theme get used at all too speak of...they are both gorgeous but there ain't any internet and the only thing to do at either is marvel at nature...not exactly something that kids or even millenials are interested in doing as evidenced by the lack of visitors to attractions already in the area...

Now build a resort close to the wall and people would no doubt go see the wall....but minus the resort the only people seeing the wall after a few years are going to be border agents.

I have thought though that the wall should be a national park and tagging should be encouraged...it could be sold as a national art gallery....and that would attract people...most of the wall that exists today is pretty well tagged already...

yeah, build it high enough so our military can stand lookout and practice their marksmanship and stop the illegals from coming across the border...kill two birds with one stone, so to speak
