Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Monday that District Attorney Fani Willis had indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 others for a “conspiracy” that was exactly what Democrats did in challenging the 2000 election.

The tactics of the Trump team, including claims of fraud, were neither more nor less than what Democrats had done in claiming that the election had been stolen from then-Vice President Al Gore by Republicans pushing for then-Governor George W. Bush.

Fox News reported:

Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz, speaking to Fox News Digital, criticized the pending indictment, calling Trump’s actions “very similar” to that of Al Gore’s legal strategy in the Bush v. Gore case that decided the 2000 presidential election.

“We challenged the election, and we did much of the things that are being done today and people praised us. I wrote a bestselling book called ‘Supreme Injustice. Now they’re making it a crime,” Dershowitz said.

“You cannot start making crimes out of things that the Democrats did — Tilden Hayes, John Kennedy election 2000 election 2016 election, Jamie Raskin gets up and does some of the same things. These are political actions that the Constitution prefers us to take rather than going out on the streets and rioting. We’re supposed to go to court. We’re supposed to go to Congress. You can’t make those things crimes. And you can’t expand the RICO statute to now include political objections,” he said.

Dershowitz added that the indictments against Trump, both federal and state, were the “weakest” he had ever seen against any candidate, and that they opened the door to Republicans doing the same to Democrats — what Alexander Hamilton had feared would be the politicization of prosecution.

The indictment against Trump and others claims that acts as mundane as tweeting to turn on the TV, reserving a meeting room, and asking for a phone number were part of the overall criminal conspiracy.

I think Smith’s federal indictment regarding the 2020 election is questionable at best. The Georgia indictment is weaker.

Dershowitz has ALWAYS done a great job of providing an objective legal commentary. The reaction is hilarious.

When that commentary favors a Dem, the GOP screams. When that commentary favors the GOP, the Dems scream.

It would be nice if both sides could just acknowledge that the man USUALLY knows what he is talking about.

Everyone should check the Dersh show on You Tube where he breaks down these indictments. You realize how truly flimsy these cases are.

3 out of the 4 Trump cases are complete trash

The documents one seems to be technically correct but a terrible basis to undo the precedent of not charging former presidents, and generally unfair vs. how Hillary was treated

None of this shite is about really getting anything to stick to Trump or put him in jail. This is just to derail his 2024 campaign. The fact that you're seeing this gigantic collective effort, and the timing of it all, should be setting off everyone's WTF radar but so many people can't see through their hatred for Trump.

I would really like to hear what Dershowitz thinks happened in Gore v. Bush that is remotely similar to what Trump did?

Dershowitz's book on the Gore case concludes the Supreme Court was wrong and Gore should have won.

If you don’t think Progressive voters don’t want to jail political opponents then you aren’t paying attention

I remember Dem operatives coordinating efforts to "find" votes by counting ballots that had been rejected per state law. They directed districts to ignore state law and begin counting ballots with hanging Chads for example. At the same time they pushed to discount all overseas military ballots in order to push them over the mark. They also put forward alternate electors if I'm not mistaken......all the while claiming fraud and voter intimidation that didn't exist.

Why don't you explain exactly what makes you think that happened?

Because I'm very confident you don't have a clue and just post that horseshite to try to make yourself look clever.
