The metro council members who led the protests with blood stained shirts? Sounds like a conflict of interests.

What happened to him that he deserves that kind of compensation?

And idk where that money is coming from but i imagine it could be better spent on improving black lives in Baton Rouge than it can in Derays pocket.

Sounds like a cost of defense settlement for the city.

I don't know that I've ever seen a $100k "cost of defense" settlement at such a juncture. Was there a lawsuit? Who were the plaintiffs? How many?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, I think there are multiple plaintiffs alleging 1983 violations. I don't think I've read anything about class certification, but this may be to head off the entire debacle of defending each individual case or dragging it out to fight a class action.

I want to read the Advocate article tomorrow and maybe we'll know more then. But I'm like you... assuming multiple plaintiffs, this is out of the ordinary if it's not cost of defense

Next time let the cops break out the night sticks.

If we have to settle with these idiots, let them earn it.

I suspect White voted against this.

Won't help Broome in the runoff.
