Should the Dept of Homeland Security call the FBI when they have an active shooter situation?

DHS is barely ten years old. People just slaughtered innocents at will before that :(

There is zero reason to have all these armed federal agencies. There should be one federal police force that enforce federal laws and regulations. That can be the FBI. There is no other reason to have that much overhead and bureaucracy. It's a waste of damn money.

Google arms and ammo purchases by the federal agencies. The quantities will floor your arse quickly.

That falls under the ATF. They conduct regular inspections at agricultural facilities.

That is only partially accurate. The do inspect ag facilities but they do not inspect and track all compounds that can be made into explosives.

It is extremely difficult to even begin to take you seriously when you use "bigot" in instances it isn't remotely warranted.

What are you talking about? DHS was several different agencies all brought together under one umbrella. Did the Border patrol and Customs Agents call the FBI when they had active shooter scenarios prior to the creation of DHS?

Of course their biggest concern is ammonium nitrate. What other compounds are you referring to?

I agree that there are far too many but I don't believe you could get away with only one. You need a border patrol and you need a customs service to collect money from foreign shippers. The customs fee charged to importers was one of the few tax fees the founding fathers approved.

That is the primary one. When I owned a small farm in MS I was allowed to buy ammonium nitrate in small quantities for my corn. I was never once visited by the ATF but I was visited by the Dept of Ag and they checked it.

How long ago was that?

I was working in Starkville about 5 years ago and met an ATF agent that was checking ammonium nitrate stocks at various farms in the area.

He LIVED on his dad's farm. So you not understand the connection between ammonium nitrate and farmers or those who work or live on farms?

Alot of this stuff is pure BS and half truths. Even the NRA acknowledge that some of these stories were over hyped.

Farmers have access to many volatile substances, that can be made into explosives, that the general public cannot purchase. Domestic terrorism does occur in rural America.

Whoa. And you want the Ag Dept to storm in and stop this?

Nope. Ag can call the AG or Homeland Security or ATF or FBI or the Park Police or pick an agency.

They don't need more than a side arm and a shotgun. Call for backup if you need more.

Or work with the local city/county-parish/state law enforcement for back up.

How many FBI and homeland security agents do you think are assigned to rural areas of Mississippi? How many ah agents are already there? I am not saying this would save money because I honestly don't know but I do believe a big deal is being made about nothing.

How does an incident like this fall under the Department of Agriculture's primary jurisdiction?
