Like everything else today, words no longer have meaning.

The way they throw around "genocide" today, it could be applied to any military conflict.

Gaza is one of the most densely populated places on Earth with 15,000 people per square mile and a total population of around 2 million people. Israel could have easily killed 500,000 or more in the first week if they wanted.

War in Gaza

Civilian to combatant is 1.5 : 1

World War II

Civilian to combatant 7 : 2

70 million to 20 million

And most of World War II was fought on empty battlefields and trench warfare.

Now apply this rationale to central Europe in the 30s.

It's genocide, even when the Jews do it.

then explain how genocide can be justified (which you claimed), since obviously there will be vast amounts of people killed who didn't attack anyone

Does he admit that the October 7 attacks were attempted genocide?

If not, then the entire line of thought is moot IMHO.

Hamas started this with targeting civilians en masse. Don’t start none, won’t be none.

That's a by product of the technology used. We no longer run at each other with swords and engage in hand to hand combat. The ancient ways were excellent in limiting non combatent death.

Modern weapons just can't translate intent with the precision of the classic methods.

So one community repeatedly attacks another and retaliation to defend yourself is genocide?

All I know is, if any country is responsible for launching a terrorist attack here, like they did in Israel on Oct. 7, committing the horrific acts of brutality they did to thousands of Israelis, murdering, raping, torturing, beheading, dismembering, cutting babies out of the womb etc etc etc... I would want to turn whatever country was responsible for that into a parking lot. Especially when the citizens of that country overwhelmingly support those actions and overwhelmingly elected their leaders because of their pledges to commit said actions to ultimately exterminate us. frick them.

At the very least, a message needed to be sent. Don't ever even think about doing anything like this again.

This conflict didn’t begin on October 7th. That’s such a myopic viewpoint.

But Hamas/Palestine, Iran/Hezbollah broke a long ceasefire on Oct. 7th. Not only that, they didn't strike military targets, they targeted civilians in absolutely brutal fashion.

so genocide in this case is justified because of the nature of the technology used? that's your answer?
