CNN’s W. Kamau Bell: Islam Part of America’s Founding

Interesting angle for the socialists
quote:
CNN’s W. Kamau Bell devoted a recent episode of his series United Shades of America to exploring Muslim and Arab communities. Aside from some interesting vignettes, the program is left-wing, anti-Trump propaganda that firmly establishes the network’s political bias. Bell also serves up some historical distortions of the sort spoonfed to undergraduates on politically-correct campuses, such as the claim that Islam has always been present in the U.S.

Every episode of that show is about him trying so so so hard to paint all of the white people he meets as evil and somehow being disappointed that the ones he meets are strangely not.

Absolutely correct.
Both Washington & Jefferson warned us about the POS religion called Islam.

It was Obama who told the Muslim world in his Cairo speech in 2009: “Islam has always been a part of America’s story.” He offered a dubious proof: “The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco.” He also cited the Treaty of Tripoli, which was essentially an agreement to pay a bribe to Muslim pirates who had made a practice of kidnapping Americans.

Yeah, they appear to have played a destructive roll. Always terrorizing.

Every fricking episode I've seen has at least one main person laying all the problems discussed in that episode at the feet of "we need more funds and programs."
Im interested in hearing when this was brought into the Islam episode.

As I recall from the McCullough John Adams biography, the Founders did not have much regard for the "Mohammedans."

Watched this the other night. It's clearly a puff piece with the people they interviewed. I found it interesting they pointed out that Christians brought the Muslim Africans here as slaves.
What they failed to discuss and point out that the biggest slave trade market at that time was actually operated by Muslims in North Africa through West Asia.
So glossing over the fact it was Arab and black muslims and other tribes which sold blacks into slavery, they're able to prove their point.
My biggest gripe is when people ignore history to prove a point. The Arab Slave Trade is a known historical point that operated for 600 years.
I won't even get into the other bullshite this documentary produced.

Well, Islam is the reason we have a navy, I'll give him that.

Religious freedom was fairly important then, why not now?

Muslims in Africa sold other Africans to the slave traders. So yes, by that metric, Muslims had something to do with slavery in this country. Bell omits this fact.

BOOM - end of discussion.

This is true, our first big foray into global warfare was wrecking shop on the Barbary pirates, a gang of moderate Muslims messing up trade and enslaving Christians off the coast of Africa.
america has been and always will be at war with Islam, God said so in the bible

Had they existed during WW2, CNN/MSNBC/blah blah would probably be telling us the Nazis only want to regain their ancestral homeland, and Europe and the rest of the world would be much better off with Hitler making the decisions.

This is correct in that Christopher Columbus was looking for an alternate trade route to China, so that the civilized world could completely bypass the Muslims. They've ALWAYS been a problem.

I don't think he was getting into the long sordid histories of how both of these Abrahamic Religions have been equally despicable.
His only point that a high percentage of slaves brought to the Americas were Muslims forced at the barrel of guns & whip to convert them to Christianity.
I guess you can discuss how both Islam & Christianity both have despicable histories on your own time.

Well, he has a point. Some say that Benjamin Rush was actually Benjamin Rushdie, a Muslim and ancestor of Salman Rushdie, and he wanted the camel as the national symbol. Ben Franklin wanted the turkey and got so mad he called Rushdie a towel-head.
As a compromise the founders chose the eagle.

Keep trying. You'll make a funny someday.
