What's lost of a lot of "why bernie?" folks is that Sanders had to move left on climate change, immigration, LGBTQ, and guns to FINALLY get traction in the party. Think about that.

Do you know how the average Azerbaijani thinks? You can get some clues from looking at pictures and videos, but you can't really ever know, because you don't live in Azerbaijan, you aren't one of them.

That's the establishment media's problem. They've never actually lived in middle America, so they don't have any reference points as to what they are thinking. Either that or they're exiles (think the ones we listened to before the Iraq war) who are 20 year removed from America, and pretend that they know what people think (they don't).

Really Chris? After basically 50 years of the MSM acting as agitprop for the radical left and higher ed wholly controlled by Bolshevist professors you can't understand?

Sigh... this board also is struggling to understand the phenomenon as well. This has nothing to do with the MSM, which outwardly loathes Bernie.

This is all about the failures of capitalism, the rising costs of healthcare, college, and the disappearance of a middle class. When the richest 3 Americans (Bezos, Gates, and Buffet) have more wealth than the bottom of 50% of Americans you get candidates like Sanders. Either deal with these issues or the next candidate will be far more extreme than Bernie.

Strange that he can't grasp that the majority of Americans don't like what the government has become.

But they are divided into 2 camps on what the prescription is to fix it.

No such thing as “free”. But While we’re breaking hard truths, no such thing as Santa or Tooth Fairy either. Sorry to be the one but it’s past time.

Them being the richest 3 Americans has no affect on mine, yours, or their lives. None at all.

You might believe that, and could very well be correct. However, the public in large will never buy that argument. As the inequality grows, we will move closer to socialism.

They can't. They know if Bernie wins, they are screwed personally, but they can't stand the thought of 4 more years of Trump. And they know if they start exposing socialism, they will lose.

Yes and no.

Their personal wealth doesn't affect you personally.

But, their personal wealth was created within a structure that is increasingly favoring a trajectory in which those with wealth, grow it faster, while those without wealth, are slower to accumulate and grow it.

Low tax rates were intended to stimulate investment by the rich for the benefit of all, but it turns out, it's just passive investment for the benefit of themselves.

When a rich person takes a million and starts a new company, he employs and helps others up and down the line, and the entire ecomony benefits.

When a rich person takes a million and buys 500K of XOM stock and 500 of KO stock, they aren't creating jobs or helping grow the economy.

Instead of just cutting marginal tax rates, if we wanted to grow the economy, we needed to create additional incentives to grow new businesses and expand smaller ones. That's the only way "trickle-down" works.

The Bernie Bros don't give AF about bathrooms or reparations or immigration. They are solely focused on economic issues. Health care, whether you want to admit it or not, is an economic issue. The cost of higher education, and the increasingly high amount of debt needed to earn a degree, is an economic issue.

They think more direct government involvement is the solution. I disagree, but I also think we need to restructure some of the government programs to allow true free market activities to take hold.
