Cheney still trying to cover his arse
not that they'll be prosecuted, but if they were he'd totally take everyone down with him

quote:

Dick Cheney discussed the newly released Senate torture report Wednesday on Fox News, and in particular challenged a finding that former President George W. Bush hadn't been briefed on the CIA's harsh interrogation methods until years after they'd already been in use.

Fox News anchor Bret Baier asked the former vice president whether the agency deliberately kept Bush in the dark about its so-called enhanced interrogation techniques.

"Not true. Didn't happen," Cheney responded. "Read his book, he talks about it extensively in his memoirs. He was in fact an integral part of the program, he had to approve it before we went forward with it."

Asked if there was ever a point where he knew more about the CIA's activity than the President, Cheney said "I think he knew everything he needed to know and wanted to know about the program."

Baier then asked if the former President knew about the "details" of the program. The report -- which Cheney called "full of crap" -- described brutal interrogation methods including waterboarding, extensive sleep deprivation, threats to harm detainees' families and "rectal feeding."

"I think he knew certainly the techniques, we did discuss the techniques," Cheney said. "There was no effort on our part to keep him from that."

"The notion that the committee's trying to peddle, that somehow the agency was operating on a rogue basis, and we weren't being told or the President wasn't being told, is just a flat out lie," he later added.

Commander in Chief not briefed? WTF?

Plausible deniability? Not buying it. Cheney is stating the obvious here.

Obama claims this all the time. IRS, Fast and Furious, etc., he claims, "I just found out like you did!'

Maybe I missed it but how is bush being thrown under the bus? Has bush denied knowing this was occuring in some way? Maybe he didn't know the full gruesome details of all the methods but he was clearly aware of most of the practices.

Even if true, the Commander in Chief not being briefed tells me all I need to know about whether or not something should be happening.

No - when the report details began to be leaked, there were charges the CIA misled or hid things from W. W. and his inner circle have backed the agency, almost (but not quite) unequivocally.

If you believe right wing media outlets like the New York Times and CNN

This isn't surprising. Cheney is still bitter that W wouldn't pardon Scooter Libby. Towards to end of his Presidency, things got so contentious between them that W quit taking his phone calls. I don't for one minute believe that W would have left Libby hanging if he and Cheny weren't doing things behind his back.

I would love to get Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld together for an hour on a public show just so we can get some of the stories straightened out.

I don't see where Cheney is throwing Bush under the bus. But if Bush is under there perhaps he'll say hi to obama's grandmother.

He isn't throwing him under the bus dumb azz, he is just stating the facts, everyone knew, the Senate and House knew, Cheney knew and Bush knew.

Cheney laughs at people who claim Water Boarding is torture, there is the rub.

Fienstien would ask during the meeting, CAN'T MORE BE DONE ?

EDIT: The reason the Senate Democratic Report says Bush didn't know is to hide the facts that THEY KNEW ALSO.

The House and Senate Select committees both knew, so the bych by saying Bush didn't know implies she didn't know also, THE BYCH IS LYING.

You just don't understand Cheney.

Dick Cheney is seriously evil incarnate. I can't believe that he has any supporters left. What he did to our budget and our military and our goodwill worldwide (not to mention the instability and violence that has come about in the Middle East due to our meddling) by orchestrating the dumbest war in American history is an unforgivable sin. I am positive that history will view him harshly.

This is a pretty typical strategy if you tend to believe "House of Cards", the Reagan admin, all the books by that Washington Post reporter during the Bush and Obama administrations (drawing a blank on his name), etc.

Are you 25? Europe has never "liked" us, save a few years in the 40s, and no one cares about the rest of the countries any ways.

This idea that we were all in a circle holding hands before Bush is just false. Sure, foreigners loved bashing the shite out of him and us, but going from a 2 to a 1 on their love scale isn't exactly shattering news.

He is right about one thing. Cheney is a bad person. Bush couldn't have had a worse person as VP.

You do realize that Bush actually disputes the conclusions of the report and does not deny knowing.

How is referring someone to Bush's book throwing Bush under the bus? Unless you think bush never wrote or read his own book...

Is this a swipe at Bush's intelligence?
