Will us Maga'rs here in SD get a relocation fee from these idiots if they pull this off?

I really hope they get this done.

Other possibility: Keep a narrow strip of land along the Mexican border from the Arizona line to the Pacific. Reduce the Calexit buyout accordingly.

I would think the Tax increase on California residents would be pretty large.

I'd rather they become part of Mexico than independent , serve those Mfers right. If they went solo than Oregon and Washington probably join up

In the short term, yes.

In the long term, they would moderate on social issues. That would be due to both electoral necessity and the loss of millions of extremists due to Calexit, which would leave a more sane and reasonable party in the rest of the country.

would be a win for everyone honestly

I think the real concern is what would other liberal havens do? New York and other east coast spots.

Also if we were more state centered wouldn't be an issue

SCOTUS in Texas v. White definitely ruled that unilateral state secession is, and was when attempted in 1860-61 a constitutional non-starter.

serious question do they have their own water?

Sierra Nevadas. Desalinization is expensive but would be easy to scale with the size of their coastline.

They actually do have enough. They just waste a lot. 10% of the state's water goes to growing almonds. A lot of people have lawns in the desert.

An independent California is capable of doing very well if it doesn't make stupid decisions.

Sounds like California is mad that Trump threatens to cut off their supply of cheap labor and is threatening to dissolve the union over it. When has this happened before?

I would love to see Calexit happen. The Democrats would have to abandon their current lunacy in order to survive.

Yep. Otherwise, the type of policies they would introduce would cause their new country to most likely collapse within 5-10 years. It would be a nice lesson to all those who think socialism is virtuous.

I would be willing to bet that over time an independent California would become more conservative or they become Venezuela.

Is there any way for just southern California to succeed? (San Fran to south L.A.) That would take care of 50% of the loonies in the country for a relatively small strip of land.

And at the bottom of this page just below the last post is an advertisement for golfing at pebble beach.

I'm planning to take some clients next summer before the exit happens.

This right here!

Fed Gov is too damn big and powerful. We need to return power to the states.

The I-95 corridor is too dependent on flyover country. DC has nothing going for it except the federal government. NYC is dependent on megabanks and Wall Street which in turn are dependent on corporate welfare. Connecticut is mainly Big Insurance which is dependent on crony capitalism. That whole area needs the US.

The SJW crazies would emigrate to California (or Bluetopia if Orexit and Washexit happen too).

So the leader of Calexit isn't even a current resident? Not surprised this cuck has a mail-order bride.

Cali would need no national defense expenditures.

No more interstate commerce protections and the US treasury purse either. No massive US government contracts going to their businesses. No medicare or medicaid. No earned income tax credits. No more massive federal funding toward R&D research and education.

Oh yeah, and now that Cali is a competitor, I fully expect the USA to incentavize the shyt out of businesses to leave that soon to be Venezuela-esk paradise. Good luck comrads!!
