By the way, a big looming issue out there is a move by Las Vegas, in association with some private venture capitalists, to buy up all the water rights in Northern Nevada. As that moves forward, a lot of those rural anti government types are going to be viewing the feds in a much friendlier light, because the feds are the only ones who can stop Vegas from taking all their water.

Things in the west are way more complicated than anybody's pundit of choice would have you believe.

The system works nimrod, if your party is out of power then crack open your wallet and elect candidates you favor.

I lived in Boulder for a decade. I know all about the truly big issues of the west, like mandatory Lesbian Dance Therapy and handicapped-only bike lanes and such...

This is going to be a major issue going forward in the west.

True story, quite a few former Monroe residents live in Taos. One family moved out there, and they liked it so much, their extended family and several friends followed them.

A lot of this land should be opened up for settlement not hoarded.

That land isn't suitable for much in the way of development

It makes perfect sense.

If you think that land not suitable for development should be developed for settlement makes perfect sense, you have no sense of 'sense'.

And I agree with you. The government putting the majority of taxpayers concerns at the top of the priority list. The way it should be. However, just a tad to the left of the map we have CA where government is restricting water to farmers who desperately need if for crops to feed people but we got a fish to worry about.

The government is its own worst enemy when not using common sense in deciding some of these cases.
