He’s over his 80s but my sister called me crying last night it was my birthday last night and I talked to her for a bit. She’s a pharmacist for a grocery chain and her husband is a pharmacist for a hospital. This particular thing hit them pretty hard. He may bounce back he’s in the ICU right now but it’s not looking good.

I don’t care whether someone is Republican or Democrat, black or white, old or young, be careful. Do the best you can to protect yourself and loved ones. Hold them close while you have them.

These are the real people at risk the most
And it sucks. But someone who was vaccinated may have infected him as well.
That’s what I hate about the mandates. They make zero sense since it’s proven it doesn’t stop the spread
If I was morbidly obese or over the age of 65 I would get vaccinated.

Having said all that I hope he recovers!

My grandparents didnt make it to 80. Your BIL is actually extremely lucky he got the time he did.

No he’s over there in Western Florida near Tampa. I mean yeah people die, that’s obvious, It doesn’t need to be sad. I was just stating that everyone and the stuff you enjoy and try and live life the best and hopefully you make it through another football season.

Yeah. This stuff does get old. 2 years ago an 80+ person dies, everyone is hopeful they live to be that old.

Fast forward to 2021 and OMG this 80 year old died. Protect yourself, do something, etc.

The fricking drama is sickening.

Sorry OP, not really directed entirely at you.

Before everyone gets their panties in a wad, I have buried 2 family members this year younger than OPs. I kept the drama to myself.

I knkw a guy about that that age who died after 8 days at home of being sick. His wife saw him turning blue-ish on maybe Thursday or Friday and didn’t bring him anywhere.

Got to the er on a Sunday 8 days after a positive test and O2 say was .. wait for it .. 50.

I mean. That’s just nuts. Doesn’t everyone know blue isn’t good??

My neighbor just tested positive. 3 out of 4 in family vaxxed but he still got it. Realized he had it when he had some sinus aches but couldn't smell a dead squirrel he was moving to the trash can.

I know it’s death and it sucks. But I mean it’s just shitty that it’s Covid and he’s not dead yet so he may be OK. My main point wasn’t necessarily talk about death but it was to talk about enjoying life and try not to stress too much because I stress a lot I mean a lot probably more than most of you even though I disagree with a lot of you I still respect you and I still want the best for you and your families. I grew up in California and I moved and lived in Mississippi for about six years including getting my degree from Ole Miss and I really came to love southern hospitality and southern people in general because I had a very different outlook on them from growing up in California. My mother grew up in Vicksburg so I always had that southern mom growing up.

Anyway just be careful everybody and love your life and just enjoy yourself it’s my birthday today (celebrated yesterday) I guess I’m just getting old. ??

Yeah you turn blue from a lack of oxygen typically and there’s not much time to really wait around if your brain doesn’t have oxygen for even a couple minutes you can be brain dead permanently. Sad stuff.

My parents are old (83, 78) and like everyone that age have some pre-existing health problems. I was talking to them last night about the recent surge and how they should protect themselves. Both were vaxxed back in Jan and I'm worried it has worn off. My parents just don't care anymore. They know they only have a few decent years of life left anyway and they don't want to spend them hiding in a cave fearing a virus. They've pretty much gotten back to as much of a normal life as they can and will let the chips fall where they may.

I feel bad for people over 80. Covid has horrible consequences for them and these are the last years of their life anyway. So many people hoping to enjoy their sunset years or check off a few bucket list items have been forced into seclusion and fear.

I just want people to like die peacefully you know I don’t want them to be gasping for air I mean that’s pretty horrific.

Gasping and choking for breath until you pass out. Hopefully it’s not that bad for a lot of people. My parents are vaccinated and they are like 72 and 68 so they have some good years ahead of them.

Like this guy?

"Caleb Wallace, Texas anti-mask ‘Freedom Defender,’ fights for life against COVID"

"He first refused to get tested or see a doctor because he didn’t want to be part of COVID-19 statistics, the publication reported, so he self-treated with Ivermectin, Vitamin C, zinc aspirin and an inhaler."
