Report: LSU Police investigating reported abduction near sorority late Wednesday

We know that Mayor Broome wants to replace Chief Abadie (for no reason) but it feels like there may be something else going on. I am seeing crime in BRLA in places that never were sketchy.

BR is in for a shite storm folks. The crime of NBR is not going to be contained much longer. GTFO while property values are still high.

I bought a condo back around 2002. I sold it 10 years later and made a nice profit. We left BR 5 years ago and have never looked back.

I love BRLA and don't want to move. I want our mayor to support law and order. Is that too much to ask?

I love this website and this board in particular, but man there are some extreme folks on here. The reality is unless you wanted St. George to happen, she'll end up being fine and much like Kip in many respects (including where to focus the parish's resources, with maybe a bit more geared towards NBR).

You must be in your 30's. I've had three friends do the same only to move back once the kids got older and became too involved with school and sports activities. That drive gets old.

I heard that "tactical nerf guns" are in plans to be standard carry for brpd in 2018. The committee is set to do a study on it next week at the Hollywood casino

Let's see who she picks for administrator. If it's a black outsider, the city is done.

I swear I have heard that before. I think it was 2008 when a certain community organizer was elected president.

In every speech or press release, she insinuates the whole problem with race relations in B.R. is on BRPD's shoulders. She never mentions or references the thugs & drug dealers as being the main reason NBR is what it is.

bullshite! Kip was very middle of the road. Broome's first order of business is to fire the BR police chief for no other reason than he's white and the residents of NBR don't like it. She also has such luminaries on her safety advisory team as Gary Chambers and Silky Slim (who got his Ph.D at LSU - Louisiana STREET University).

Kip is black, but the man was a good politician and appeased both ends of the spectrum. Broome is a racist whose decisions as mayor will be driven by skin color, not what's best for all of EBR

Broome vs BR Police
Reparation has begun to assume many clever forms, but always careful to avoid being labeled "extortion". It's the science of Implied Guilt. Please look the other way while we even the score.

The playing field was leveled many years ago, but that wasn't good enough. This time, bring me the salt on a silver platter - on your knees - so I can really rub it into the wound so you'll kiss our butts for generations to come.

I doubt Broome is as supportive of our police as Kip was. Hell, Broome ran on the anti-police work rhetoric. The idiots in this town still elected her.

One other thing it's mid march the election was in November. She still doesn't have all of her ducks in a row and people in place ready to lead yet?

Exactly what resources can she focus in NBR that will help foster the black family?

The problem we see there is the same as in the worst parts of every major city in the US: the dissolution of the black family empowered by a social handouts system that rewards poor life choices.

Here is reality:

We don't know what Broome is going to do.

So far she has put several committees together and they reported back to her their recommendations which to some are pretty radical. Sure these are just advisory committees, but remember she appointed the membership.

She has publicly said she wanted the current police chief out. Many do not like this, and we have no idea who she wants to take his place. she has conducted a national search for a position that isn't vacant. Reality is we don't know who the police chief is going to be.

She has also failed to name here CAO, yet.. In the past Monsour and Daniels were key parts of the Holden administration. This job has grown in importance over the years, and is another really big hire, and reality is we don't know who she might hire.

I hope you are right, and Ms. Broome becomes a fine mayor. I hope she improves the quality of life in EBR for all the citizens, but to date there isn't anything to hang your hat on that makes me say she is doing a good job so far.

She has upset me with her status on St. George. She has upset many with her stance on Dabadie. Right now on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, I can't give her anything more than a 3, but it's very early.

She is on the clock, and she has plenty of time to do some good things for EBR.

I agree with your assessment but she really doesn't have time to sit and wait. Looking at the recommendations from her task forces, I really liked this idea.
