Give us an example of something that is considered a national secret but is also available to the public (aka declassified).
Obviously if it is available to the public and the public has it, then by definition it’s no longer a secret. To your question though, let’s say Trump took a list of all active US spies in the field as well as all contacts we had inside foreign governments. That would obviously be very classified at the highest level. He would have the right to declassify while still in office. It would be incredibly reckless but he could do it.
That list though would still be a national secret though even though he had declassified it. If he had that in his possession after the presidency, that could be problematic.
Please note this is completely hypothetical and I chose an example that has not been speculated at all so no one can say I’m saying that has happened. To be clear, I have no reason to believe my example has happened.

Either he took classified documents that are highly sensitive or he declassified nuclear documents that plain shouldn't be declassified.
They aren’t classified if he declassified them. There is no one above the President.
The President gets to say what should and should be declassified. The end.
What don’t you understand about this?
You and your ilk are deranged and proving why the Biden Admin undertook this gambit.

Did the inventory receipt that has been leaked include any items that were specifically labeled "state secret?"
No, but that would be a very odd thing to put on there. Most things were very broad and did not deal with content at all.

My comment is independent of this thread. You’re a bitch.
Ok then. I really have never given you enough thought to even form an opinion about you. I guess now I’d say your belligerent and cranky. Nice to meet you BC.

I think DOJ knows it won’t stick. They did it to as usual keep the pressure on him and his supporters. Endless investigations

Like what Obama did to our assets in China?

I don't think you understand.
Classifications simply formalized and prioritized state secrets, baw. Your opinion that they are mutually exclusive is preposterous.

Exactly right.
Goal #1: prevent OMB from running for office.
Goal #2: draw out months-long negative press to conjure up as many OMB sheeple as possible.

It would be odd because it's not an official classification anymore.
That's like saying that since it was just called music for a while, stuff now labeled as rock and roll, jazz, and folk would not necessarily be considered music.

Do you have a link to that? I’m genuinely curious.

yeah, sorry if I don't trust a compulsive liar about actually declassifying the documents over the FBI. All you have is his word which isn't worth very much.

You may be right. Won’t be the first time I’ve been wrong today even. We’ll see though.

I’m really not sure what you are talking about.
If the President declassified them, they are. He doesn’t have to “actually” do much of anything.
70 years of jurisprudence says that if documents are in a former President’s possession, they are PRESUMED declassified.
You are simply deranged. Seek help.

What if Biden by the same 'standing order' re-classified everything Trump took? Since the (current) President is the ultimate authority...Trump is still screwed.
Holy shite
Thats not the way it works lol

I’m sticking to it all being a fishing expedition. They didn’t find jack shite, so they have to try and make this bullshite stick that was the reason for the warrant. They know the warrant was paper thin but deemed it worth it if they could find bigger stuff. They didn’t now they will rally the MSM to make it all seem super spooky. Just like Russia Russia Russia. I bet they keep, the investigation open til the 2024 election is over to boot.

What does "70 years of jurisprudence" say about documents in a former President's possession that he is told are classified and must be returned, but he then refuses?
Even after a subpoena?

They don’t care if they find anything.
It’s already mission accomplished. They get to put this stink on him and have crazy sycophants like BamaAtl go “look at this reeeeeeee”

You are a total nut case. Read your sentence a few times.
If he declassified them they aren’t classified. No one can “tell” him they are.
Every President for the past half century plus has done the exact same thing.
