BR Judge Trudy White's Appeals Court reversal upheld by La Supreme Court

Judge White ignored an unanimous second-degree murder verdict by a jury and ruled the defendant guilty of negligent homicide.
The difference in punishment is life without parole for the jury's murder verdict vs. maximum of 5 years in prison for White's negligent homicide over rule of the jury.
For those keeping score, Trudy White was the judge who took a mysterious and still unexplained three-month leave of absence last year.
Maybe she went back to law school.....

State District Judge Trudy White, whose August 2015 reduction of Bland's March 2015 murder conviction drew sharp rebukes from both Stockton's family and the state 1st Circuit Court of Appeal,....
Derrick Bland, whose unanimous second-degree murder conviction in the 2013 shooting death of his brother-in-law was reinstated by an appeals court last April after a Baton Rouge judge reduced it to negligent homicide, has failed to convince the state's top court that he was too intoxicated to commit murder.
The Louisiana Supreme Court, without issuing written reasons Monday, denied the 51-year-old Bland's appeal in the killing of James "Mucci" Stockton, 40.

She should face some sort of punishment for that ruling.

Trudy White is a disgrace.

She's just upholding her campaign promises to get criminals back on the street. The sad thing is, I'm not even paraphrasing it. She circulated ads on social media directly stating she would get criminals back on the street, and she won. Don't blame her, blame her constituents. They're getting exactly what they voted for.

We are better together.

Bland's attorneys contend he was too drunk to have the specific intent to murder Stockton.
How can an attorney say this with a straight face?

I would be funny if it wasn't so terrifyingly sad

It's gotta be rough on victims and their families to watch her let these people go for no reason other than vote farming. That's pure evil.

He was apparently sober enough to wait for the victim behind a tree, kill him, make a get-a-way, then dispose of the gun.

Does anyone really think her "constituents" even know about her reversal or what it means? Most judges take it as a personal affront when a decision is over turned. Judges like White don't care & will continue doing whatever it takes to get re-elected. By their "constituents".

Her constituents are friends and family of plenty of criminals. They like what she does.
