Both Maine and New Jersey state governments have been shutdown.

Both state legislatures failed to pass a budget at midnight resulting in "non-essential" state services being closed and thousands of employees furloughed.

I know NJ has state elections for governor and the state legislature. Christie is term limited and on his way out, but some state legislators better be losing their seats for this.

Out of curiosity, I looked up if Louisiana ever had a state government shutdown and was surprised that it never did. Woah.

Louisiana politicians would never risk interrupting the flow of money into their pockets.

Only 48 more to go. EVERYTHING in government (local, state, & federal) needs an overhaul. The subjects have been robbed long enough.

Atlas is tired of shrugging.

That's because state employees are afraid no one would notice any difference......

The NJ shutdown means that a very popular state run beach has been shut down. Yes, they shut down a beach and nobody can go.

Except....

the Christie family and friends, since there is an official governor's residence on the state run beach property and Christie wants to spend his 4th of July holiday there.

Now that is shitty.

I've always been told that Louisiana does not have to have a balanced budget; thus, no shutdown.

Amirite?

Slot of state employees are arrogant. They think the people need them.

I would assume the people that work there would be considered "nonessential" which would then leave the beach unsupervised and nobody there to stop you from going.

Why do they have non-essential services in the first place?

So you're saying the other people who live on the beach can't?

Maine and Jersey both have crazy Republican governors. Nothing to see here.

You realize that "Atlas Shrugged" refers to Atlas "shrugging off" his burden of the world, right? It's a one time thing, and I imagine not something he would get tired of
