My issues aren't so much with the policy, as with the red faced "GET THEM IMMIGRANTS OUT OF MY COUNTRY!" proponents of the policy

Why does Mexican immigration issues grind your gears so much?

It doesn't - not really.

I'm totally against illegal immigration and I want it all to stop and want the border to be secure. I'm not against a wall, per se, and have never advocated against it. I don't care. I don't think it will solve much, but I'm not against it.

I AM against the way that Trump demonized immigrants from Mexico and they way he won't actually offer a solution to the problem that is humane other than deport them all or some other such nonsense. I am more concerned about those already here.

But, no, I don't want more illegal immigrants to come here. It is illegal and is a bad situation for them and for us. I have compassion on those who have been here for 10-20 years and have kids who were born here and are U.S. citizens. I wish Trump would do something for them. But, that's it.

No.

I am waiting for Trump to get his head in the game and come up with real solutions instead of just spouting off stupidity.

The article said that they would have to postpone it until the Fall.

I only know what I read in the article. Do you have some other knowledge you'd like to share? I have a job and can't follow this stuff 24/7.

his is going to F them right in the a$$, Trump will tell them to put in the money for the wall and the military or it will be dead on arrival, shut the government down if you want, it will be your head on the chopping block.

Um, no. Then, the people will get to see that he's willing to shut down the government completely for his Wall and both Republicans and Democrats will turn on him. If he can't convince his own party to put the money in for his pet projects, then who is his actual constituency? It looks like its about 15-20% of the country with the rest of his support coming from people who just hate the Democrats.

Trump can't play hard ball till election year 2018 and they know it.

What?

He's got the House, Senate, and soon to be SCOTUS. He can't play hardball now but he WILL be able to when the Presidential election cycle starts up again? That makes no sense.

I hope they are all voted out! Republicans and Democrats alike are against the president, this country, and its citizens. They only care about getting rich off of the backs of hard working Americans. Washington needs a good purge.

Voted out by whom?

You do realize that the American people put them all there, right?

Losing seats is not the biggest problem in the midterms. Losing governors is the biggest problem.

GOP will lose 4 in New England and maybe Maine. The will probably lose Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, and Arizona will be a toss-up.

This is a problem because of re districting in 2021 after the census.

So who will get those seats? I think you guys are missing the fact that most ppl who will be running for office are against Trump just as much as the ppl who already hold the positions.

They are just making sure that they lose seats next election

they are giving Trump time to negotiate for the Mexicans to pay for the wall.
After all, it was the cornerstone of his pitch, er I mean, plank of his platform.

And his request for a mere $54 billion in ADDITIONAL war material spending might not be necessary at all. its a gift to the military industrial complex.

Let's have a national referendum.

you have the following choices

A. military spending.
additional spending of $54 billion for more military hardware
or pay down the national debt by $50 billion and leave the other 4 billion in the pot.

B. Mexican wall.
a middle class tax of $100 each to pay for phase one of the wall
or Trump negotiates for Mexicans to pay for it. this was a claim during the election.
or Trump asks Mexico to change NAFTA so that Mexicans pay to ship goods into the USA until the wall is paid for. Re-Negotiating NAFTA was another of Trump's claims.

vote.

The only people that wanted the wall were the people dumb enough to believe Mexico would pay for it.

I thought I remembered it polling pretty well, but wasn't sure

So I did a quick search and found several national polls where more than half opposed, and none where half supported it. Now that people are realizing Mexico ain't paying for shite, it'll probably lose support
