And that's the other reason why I only use atheist instead of agnostic. In terms of discussion we really usually are only talking about do you believe in the god of the Bible or not? Abrahams God which of course includes Islam and Judaism. I mean I don't think your typical Muslim Jew or Christian would use the word agnostic or even theist if you said you believed in Apollo.

Agree 100%. That's why I usually just identify as atheist in these threads. People like black and white.

Yep, we cool. I don't really disagree with anything you've posted.

For the record, there are some pretty bad posters on this board. Horrible. And on a positive note, you are one of them.

Conscience

That's it.

The very idea of conscious thought about whether something is 'wrong' or 'right' demonstrates there is a higher power which has given mankind a mandate to go forth and do good.

The problem is that you lack a key element to see the proof you need and that is FAITH. When one has their heart stirred and becomes a believer, that person will then see all the evidence they will ever need. Until then, one will never be satisfied with any amount of evidence of any type because a veil covers their "eyes" so to say. Jesus himself spoke to that.

Most atheists don't particularly care if you join their club. For the most part, I'd say the same.

Opinions and emotions abound in the above.

Evangelicals are more of a political group than a religious one. At least over the last 20 years.

I wasn't the downvoter, and I agree with you, based on the new terminology. And there's a whole other question re: the origin of the new meaning. I'm an etymological rebel (sort of purist I guess) here and like to stick to the original meaning of words, at least when those words came from very specific and meaningful events.

You call it faith, I call it delusion. And I swear I'm not trying to be ugly when I say that. I respect your right to believe whatever you want as long as it doesn't affect me.

faith

Literally belief absent proof.

Also, don't assume. I spent a majority of my early life buying into your mythology.

I know that argument and it's a pretty good one. It's why, even though I'm agnostic, I wish I weren't. It's terrifying to consider that my entire experience might be a series of chemical reactions. Counter intuitive, even. But lacking any solid proof of an alternative I'm forced to remain uncommitted.

Again, not trying to argue your beliefs. Just trying to explain mine.

The absence of facts only leaves room for emotion. It's ok.

That's not even close to being correct.

You're out of practice. I got you, though.

This is a softball in a religion thread but I'll leave it alone.

I bet 35-40% of the posters on this board are atheists who voted for Trump.
