usa today

So the State AG found no sufficient evidence of a crime and then the next day the same officer is fired for "excessive force" and the other officer suspended 3 days.

Is this typical?

Trump should give him a job with the US Marshals, the federal police force. Would be the ultimate to Broome and the BR city gov't.

Why isn't the left blaming the gun this time?

Beginning of a slow decline for Baton Rouge and no tourism industry to hide behind.

I'm not familiar with the video so can someone point out the moment when the victim puts the officer's life in danger? I've only seen what the msm showed so I missed the part were the black guy attacked the cops.

He didn't do anything.

He was a good boy just selling his CDs and minding his own business.

It is basically different types of rulings but consistent. The officer escalted things more aggressively than he should have, thus he got fired. But once they were on the ground and Sterling reaches for gun, officer justified to shoot (and not criminal). I kind of agree with both rulings.

Video released today from officer’s camera

He almost shot his damn foot off reaching for his gun I was told by a police officer here in town.

He was reaching for the gun in his pocket and never allowed them to cuff him. He did everything he could to die that night. Literally everything. I shed no tears for this idiot.

Do cops make mistakes, oh hell yes and many are aa criminal as those they arrest, but dam son listen and obey when you break the law and dont go reaching in your pockets while high as frick dumb arse.

Sauces?

I'm still waiting for someone to show me why someone had to die that night. Couldn't the trained professionals hold him at bay until back up arrived? Why did they feel the need to escalate the situation?

maybe it's the part where he is trying to get the loaded gun out of his right pocket despite being tased and having 2 cops trying to subdue him on the ground. I'm wondering on some of these situations when some people think any shooting would be justified?

Why wait until after the AG makes the announcement? They've had this footage. Why not fire him before all this?

Try a thought exercise. Your sworn duty is to detain and arrest a 300 lb thug that you believe has a gun in his pocket. Every second he refuses to submit to handcuffs and continues to resist arrest is a second closer to the possibility that he reaches into that pocket and grabs the gun and potentially puts a shot into you and your family never sees you again. You aren’t allowed to just walk away. You aren’t going to talk him into handcuffs. You might be well practiced with drawing your gun and getting a shot off quickly, but a gunshot wound is not always immediately incapacitating and he could still return fire and potentially kill you in the exchange.

Tell us how certain you are that your life isn’t in danger when you have to physically attempt to restrain such a person.

You don't need to be fired ONLY if you commit a crime.

People are fired everyday for looking askew at their boss let alone shooting someone.

We seriously need to stop making certain professions not part of the Constitution and criminal code.

Everyone is subject to it in a Republic.

If you can be fired for serving the wrong latte...you can be fired for shooting someone.

How is this rocket science? I mean what special part in the Constitution, Criminal Code or just plain Company code or simply just a boss...says cops are exempt from being fired for fricking up? People get fired all the time. For serving a wrong doughnut. It's not a crime if you serve the wrong doughnut...but you fricked up. You get fired.

Firing doesn't have to be predicated on a crime being committed.

When did cops getting fired get elevated to the OJ standard of proof?

One of the two white officers who wrestled Alton Sterling to the ground and killed him outside a Louisiana convenience store was fired after an excessive force investigation. The second officer will be suspended for three days.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul made the announcement and detailed the investigation into both white officers, Howie Lake and Blane Salamoni. The case stems back to the 2016 shooting of Sterling, who was later found with a gun.

Why does it even matter what color skin they have? If it was two black officers, or even one white and one black, would this even be stated in the article? Just to make sure you know they were white they let you know twice.

So you don't think the two are related what so ever?

You don't think they could have done this before the verdict came out?
