Party tricks.

There's your national legislature, ladies and gentlemen. She knows it is DOA, but takes up bandwidth for it anyway.

Meanwhile, real stuff is kicked down the road.

For those butthurt liberals who really want a popular vote system, would they be willing to compromise by doing this:

1. All persons voting MUST show PROOF of CItizenship

2. All persons voting MUST show photo ID

I highly doubt that they would agree to either of those conditions...

The same statement could be said about term limits. Also DOA, and everyone knows it. But defenders will say that at least Trump is bringing the issue to the forefront. But it's still DOA.

I'm sure she would still be doing this had Trump won the popular vote but lost the EC.

Wouldn't it require a constitutional amendment to abolish the electoral college?

Just legislation?

LOL. It'll take a WHOLE lot more than one piece of legislation...but hey...she's doing what her dumb, blind constituents want her to do...

Hell, while we're at it Barbara...why not just let Obama just stay 4 more terms....LOL. You'll have as much luck getting that passed.

Yes. I'm sure the majority of states will vote to give up the power of EC

Maybe, but nowhere near the same degree. Some candidates get elected on a platform of self-imposed term limits, and even live up to them (see J. C. Watts). Heck, there is even thought that state party platforms could insist on this at some point, since these are more "grassroots" and less self-interest.

Getting rid of the EC would be asking smaller states to voluntarily give up their voice in a national election.

Do you not think that one of these is significantly less likely than the other, even in theory?

But I will grant you that both are theatre.

But but... it will start the dialogue!

Or whatever silly things Liberals say to justify practically any action.

Yes, which has to be ratified by 2/3rds of the states which will never happen, very few states would vote to hand over their power to elect the president to California and New York.
