‘bad apple insurers’

There it is, the Savior's it isn't my fault theme.

Fact-checkers and journalists have ruled that Obama wasn't being truthful when he claimed that people who liked their insurance could keep it. Obama during a speech in Boston sought to cast the issue Wednesday as trying to weed out "bad apple insurers" who don't provide enough coverage.

"One of the things health reform was designed to do was to help not only the uninsured but also the under-insured," Obama said. "And there are a number of Americans, fewer than 5 percent of Americans, who've got cut-rate plans that don't offer real financial protection in the event of a serious illness or an accident.
"Remember, before the Affordable Care Act, these bad apple insurers had free rein every single year to limit the care that you received or used minor pre-existing conditions to jack up your premiums or bill you into bankruptcy."

Now he refers to it as the Affordable Care Act. Why is that?

I'll say this, at least O recognizes that the collective IQ of the voting public is somewhere between Moron and Chia Pet. His view is that you are too stupid to keep yourself from being "taken" so the Government has to watch out for you and he is mostly right about that.

People have to be smart enough to understand the concept of "you get what you pay for".

He needs to distance himself from this POS, that's why corkgobblers are even trying to say Rs are at fault for this legislation.

That's a legitimate case to make, and he should have made it. Doesn't change the fact that he lied.

I don't know about that. Whose fault is it that the 5% he mentions have crappy plans? That's like the housing fiasco, when people signed for mortgages they couldn't afford. These people are signing up for insurance that does nothing, either because they want insurance like that or because they're too lazy to do comparisons with other available policies.

They could have switched to a better plan before Obamacare if they wanted. They didn't. That's their choice. Yet once again, the rest of the public is expected to dig into their wallets and fix the problem for them.
