Just because people are going to see it doesn't mean they will be satisfied with it.

I refuse to go see this movie because of how much it tries to make the story of Noah into something it's not.

This story of Noah tells the story of a planet where the inhabitants destroy the earth and its resources because they are not environmental, so the "creator" (NOT GOD) floods the earth because man didn't take care of the earth and polluted it. The "creator" (AGAIN, NOT GOD) chooses a drunk and extremely sinful man named Noah to build the ark for the flood.

3 things wrong with that.

1. The flood happened as God's wrath against sin. Not because God was mad because man was not taking care of the earth. It was a judgement from God, next time he is coming with fire.

2. Using "creator" instead of "God" is ridiculous and blasphemous. Would this director make a movie about Mohammad and use the word creator instead of Allah?

3. Noah was chosen because God was pleased with him and his dedication toward obeying God. No where in scripture was he depicted as a drunk heathen.

Translation: this movie is a steaming pile of poo poo; exactly what many ignorant movie-goers love.

A link sausage which will become a turd, which will be wallowed in by the pig, which will become more link sausage, thus completing the cycle.

NC, have you seen the movie? Do you have an opinion or just joking around. Not flaming, just curious?

Whoever wrote this missed the point.

Noah chided his son for taking the wildflower needlessly. "We only take what we need."

Ya, I addressed that author's points in a previous post in this thread. I get the feeling the author just wanted to shite on the movie before he saw it.

However, it was a pretty terrible movie

Yeah, i don't exactly recall Transformer-type rock people in the Book of Genesis. But then, I wasn't there, so...

What a terrible fricking movie.

Religion aside, it's just a depressing mish-mash of sci fi and fantasy and torture porn.

Spoilers:

Beyond the rock people (which are in my opinion one the lesser problems of this crap) you have...

The mysterious glowing ore that does whatever the writer needs it to do. Let's call it "Unobtanium" (because it's stupidity on Avatar levels).

The pine-cone dog. Why did they need to create a new type of animal that doesn't exist in reality or in the Bible? If you want to have people hunting an animal, just have them hunting an animal.

The inclusion of the Odin character. Really? That's your deus ex machina? Anthony Hopkins pops in to move things along?

The evil stowaway. I love Dr. Smith on Lost in Space as much as the next person, but not on Noah's ark.

You should get a gig reviewing movies, FK. Spot on. And I watched the movie.

BTW...the ONE thing I look for in a movie is the same as in life. Flashes of the potential necessarily throughout, contrasted with a counter putting the good guys on the ropes; but at the end...all therein inspiring and exalting and inclining one to worship life...as opposed to ambivalent ho hum or jaded indifference.

IMO...Noah...FLOPPED. Eye candy. More fit for them that disrespect Biblical cred, than them that worship it.

Movie was boring and slow but those of you complaining about it not being "accurate" need to relax. It's a movie and there are lots of symbolism in it.

Also, is God not the creator? Noah prays the entire movie and references the "creator" and "father". Come one guys, you are still complaining? Turn off Fox News.

Fair enough, MG. I did recognize the "symbolism", and wasn't disappointed there. Probably went over the head of many solid Christians though.

I'm not an Old Testament guy really. :lol Were it not for Jesus...I'd be uninterested.

Just that when I do watch a GOOD movie about the most important subject OF ALL...I expect to be SKY HIGH when I walk out of there. This was a downer. More fitting title should have been "Noah's Wife"!

Totally agree. I have not recommended it to anyone. Not because of the accuracy of it, but simply because it was a slow and boring movie.

Did someone designate this phrase to be used whenever any movie with a religious implication is discussed? Can't help but notice is showed up in The Passion thread also.

Probably so, W. But truly more befitting of any Tarrentino flick. If anybody has took 'torture porn' to the bank...it's him.

It's pretty well known that Mel Gibson has a messiah complex and loves the use of graphic violence in his films.

Mel uses it, Rev.; and God allows it. All depends on the reason for using/allowing it...huh?

Well I don't go to movies for theology, but to be entertained. I don't look to Hollywood for spiritual guidance and I'm surprised some do.
