There's been a leftist bent to the teaching of US History for decades. It's just getting more blatant now.
Well we're talking about AP teaching, not the college classroom. Granted I went to high school in New Orleans, but I noticed no "leftist bent" when I took two AP history classes. My teacher was /is a Republican, to my knowledge. The texts, from what I call, were pretty standard and objective but it wasmore of a lecture-style class than anything.
I can't speak for classrooms in Berkeley.

I have seen (and taught) AP course materials and they are not far at all from college-level US History in terms of content and ideology.

While I only glanced over the outline.. What glaring problems did you find?.. It appears to me that much of the more modern History is left to discussion and debate within the outline.
ETA: I took AP History both World and US in high school.. I remember the curriculum being driven towards discussion/opinion when dealing with more modern historical political movements and the related consequences..

I did. I remember having a very brief argument with my teacher when she asserted that the new deal ended the great depression. That's a fairly minor point, but it underscores the bent referenced in the OP.

So basically we should all be mad at the Spanish and Portuguese for slavery.
In a funny twist of fate, the Spanish are now at the mercy of the African in migration into America.
