The author of this article warns of a "leftist" bias in the newly written curriculum for the AP U.S. History course taught in high schools for college credit.

Here is the actual curriculum.

Thoughts?

I just helped my wife with a US history course to finish her degree and was amazed at the liberal slant that the text had taken vs what I took years ago.

Granted this was ten years ago but I took two AP history classes in high school and neither textbook was remotely biased. Either way the idiot in the first link completely misrepresents the curriculum.

Nothing.

But he threw Marxist in there, so the conservative bat-signal lit up.

I'm not digging through 102 pages to try and find it.

Buddy of mine was taking a history course at Tech a year or so ago. The text was really slanted, so he researched the author. Longtime Socialist, from a family of Socialists.

Wish I could remember the name.

So basically we should all be mad at the Spanish and Portuguese for slavery.

In a funny twist of fate, the Spanish are now at the mercy of the African in migration into America.

Link is to the outline, not the course. The outline is dotted with examples like this:
quote:

Radical Republicans’ efforts to change southern racial attitudes and culture and establish a base for their party in the South ultimately failed, due both to determined southern resistance and to the North’s waning resolve.
The devil is in the details obviously. However the outline does seem to open the devil's door.

There's been a leftist bent to the teaching of US History for decades. It's just getting more blatant now.

To deny this is to demonstrate your ignorance.

It means this class is nothing short of a mechanism with which socialist indoctrination will be carried out. That is anti-American, in and of itself.
