Serious question: since Flynn was technically a private citizen having a chat and chew with a Russian diplomat, and not a federal employee at the time, what could he be guilty of? He was not in position to enact a quid pro quo, even if he pledged to do so. Once he took office, it appears the only thing he's guilty of is not being upfront with Pence about his meeting while he was still a private citizen.
Where's the crime? Would I be considered a criminal if I had lunch with a Russian diplomat?

I personally feel there should be wording in GOVERNMENT employment contracts that make pleading the 5th illegal in some way, constituting an automatic 5 yr prison stint if invoked.
We all know that several idiots are involved in most gov decisions....but all of them having the ability to plead the 5th shuts our process down and prohibits correction.
You give 3 or 4 people 5 yrs, full term, taking away all pensions, benefits, etc, one of those frickers will roll

Then Flynn was an unregistered foreign agent, traveling the world to complain about the Obama administration and picking up paychecks despite warnings from the Defense Department.
After all of this, Trump proudly pointed to Michael Flynn as his top military adviser and considered him for vice president.

It's illegal for former military officers to accept money from a foreign state without approval by the military. Approval Flynn never got.
