If that's true, it's pretty damning

“These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.”

Keep explaining away consumers reactions to liberal agenda driven products and services. Every time we see one of these it’s always no big deal. This attitude, above all else, is why Donald Trump is president.

You know you can plug rabbit ears into your TV and get free local programming?

Sure. The point I was making is that it is not free if you get those channels with a package deal from a provider so to get my CBS and FOX, it ain't free.

Let's be honest, if they were yelling "Kill All Cops!" Kick would be on here defending them.

He has never shown the slightest sign of objectivity on any subject. You can count on him to support the far left in everything it does.

Zero evidence in his post history to the contrary.

Was free for me at the time. I 86'ed my cable and got a free digital box from our local news station (non-subscription based) and I was able to pull all public broadcast (cbs and fox) gratis. HD broadcasts for public broadcast stations are free if you have the right equipment brah.

They won't lose money.
Great argument! How could I have missed that? My bad, clearly you know what you're talking about.

You believe 14 MLB owners lost money last year?
Sports teams never lose money because the demand is so high. It allows the teams to enact revenue sharing to ensure that no owner is ever truly in the red. But when demand goes away, so does profit sharing, which means bye-bye to those guaranteed profits.

Come on man, you have to be able to see this. It's like pre-Econ 101. Even the most vague and incomplete knowledge about markets will still make you realize that when demand falls, prices and profits fall with it. How much they fall is the question. But if demand doesn't rise back up, it will have an impact

2017 is thus far down 11% from the already declined 2016.

It's almost like this is something that began before this season.

Almost...

Just finished reading that pregame ratings on Sunday were its highest in 7 years, and the games themselves saw a 5% ratings increase compared to week 3 last year. Sounds like a whole lotta talking the talk was going on, but not much walking the walk...

This is a good point. You don't need cable to watch most most NFL games.

Dont confuse ratings with viewership. Alot more factors into ratings than someone watching a game.

Of course people tuned in to see what all the crap was about. I did as well, but probably won't watch but a few games this year. I get my football fill on Saturdays. We'll see what NFL viewership does going forward.

We are pretty much a pathetic society anyway. Way too many annoying people. Need a culling.

Tv numbers are down across the board. What's their reason?

Yesterday you said the ratings were up. Is this your argument now?

Yeah cant you just buy an HD antenna from walmart or walgreens for like 20 bucks?

You do NOT need an "HD" antenna. Antennas are based on frequency application and have nothing to do with how the data is transposed onto that frequency. A 50 year old antenna will work just as good as a new as the frequency spectrum for OTA broadcasts has not expanded. It has actually contracted.

No, its exactly like something that began LAST season, when the ratings started to slide. Some QB started kneeling, and others joined. Yeah, the QB that's not playing THIS season, because he kneeled LAST season

But, boy you were sure on top of this one, weren't you?

NFL has an antiquated tv deal with fox and cbs, I'm sorry but multiple games should be on different stations. Often times I get stuck with an awful matchup and I do not bother watching.

No it isn't. Ratings were going down before last season.

Yes. Hypocrisy, dishonesty, and ignorance are always worth pointing out.

Keep talking tv. They are talking $$$$

You do realize how they make their money right? It's all based on ad revenue. When broadcasters enter into a deal with the NFL both sides are negotiating based on eyesballs. If ratings are way up the NFL has the leverage to say we want x amount of money because projected growth in viewership is worth that much. However, if you've lost 20% of your viewers, broadcasters can't increase their their ad revenues and there for are unwilling to pay the NFL the amount they want for the broadcasting rights...Now take it a step further. The players lose money due in part to the collective bargaining agreement. They share in the revenue of the NFL which includes broadcasting contracts. If the NFL can't command the maximum from broadcasters because viewership is in the toilet, then the players are forced to share the smaller pie. That is why people like Rothlesberger suddenly had some regret the day after. They realize that if viewership tanks because of this stupidity, then the ones who will feel it most are the players. Broadcasters will still make their money, owners will still be billionaires but the guy who might get 30 million in today's market might only command 20 million if viewership goes in the shitter.
