Anyone else less than impressed with the French, period, since Napoleon?

FTFY, and, yes, I'm much less than impressed (full disclosure - I'm about 35, 40 percent French ancestry, but all of that was pre-Napoleon. )

My local fire department came by my office right after I renovated my building and developed a plan to put out any fire I might have. I live in a city with 5,000 people.... it's hard to imagine that the Parisian fire department had any kind of plan for dealing with a fire at this structure

what were the 400 firefighters doing

It was reported that most firefighters were busy trying to remove the valuable artwork and relics from inside before it was too late.

What were they doing? Letting the evidence burn up...

The St. Amant volunteer fire department would have had that fire out faster

That makes sense. The building can be rebuilt.

fighting amongst themselves as it burned than actually coming up with a plan to save as much as possible.

You’d think they would have already had a plan in place, considering the importance of the structure
