City planning and building codes were different 900 years ago.

They were probably po'd that they had to work overtime and more than 30 hrs. a week. They were formulating their grievances through the union.

Yes but if I am a firefighter a city with lots of old architecture, that just happens to be a major source of income for my city, I have a plan to deal with such an event... this fire has been burning seven or eight hours, they look woefully unprepared

There is zero chance that this was an accidental electrical fire, especially occurring on a workday / weekday with staff present.

The only explanation is that this was terrorism / planned vandalism that fireballed an entire section so quickly that traditional firefighting methods were rendered useless.

The worst part will be when the MSM parrots the "accident" talking points and says that we are crazy conspiracy theorists.

I had no idea there was so much wood in the construction of that cathedral - given that fact, there should have been provisions for attacking any fire immediately.

Hell, the river is all around the place - why no pumps on hand to begin pouring river water immediately??

This is my first candidate - cause some terror and damage and hope for what happened.

Already doing it...

“We don’t know the actual cause of the fire yet”

“But obviously caused by construction/renovation work”

We all watched 1000 firefighters rush into two sky scrapers that had just been struck be two airplanes that were infernos.

There's no excuse for this weak of a response.

It's the French we are talking about. This is exactly what I expected. I even said to my wife when the story first broke, the French will not extinguish this fire. I knew they'd spend more time grabbing each others dicks and fighting amongst themselves as it burned than actually coming up with a plan to save as much as possible.

They saved all the artwork and relics, saved the structural integrity of the main structure, and both bell towers. Enough was saved where it can be rebuilt using the original main structure.

I’d say they did ok

Not really - all of that stuff was removed prior to the renovation - otherwise, it would all be gone too.

Maybe they carry white flags like the army. Those are flammable.
