As a Southern Baptist, I didn't know there was a difference between the protestant version and the Catholic one. What is it?

I am a:
- Card-carrying member of the GOP, and elected delegate to congressional district and state conventions.
- Christian man that is active in my church and is very much a "Go ye, therefore,..." type.
I cringe when our events open with a Christian prayer. I don't see it as endorsing a religion. I see it as a crutch for not doing enough to win on actual government policy and initiatives. At best, Christian principles like taking care of "widows and orphans" have a role in relying less on government handouts and more on local communities, but that is about the limit of where I see any room for the Bible in making government run better.
Flame away.

Hell, even the DNC did it in Philly IIRC and they're christianity haters.

Protestants last line is "For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever..."
And, as a liberal and a Christian, I have no problem with anyone reading either version of the Lord's Prayer.

When we say it we don't say "For the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory are yours for now and forever"

Why?
Melania reading the lords prayer was no biggie to me but the preacher that had a 5 min prayer before the rally got under my skin.
There are people there that might not have any faith/religion at all and it might piss them off. So keep it short and to the point and move on to the business at hand.

Why can't the first lady "endorse" Christianity?

Yeah, I'm an atheist and have a healthy suspicion about religion. This doesn't. Other me at all.

As an atheist, it bothers me none. People are free to do as they wish. And, by the way, saying a prayer at a speaking engagement is not "State sponsored religion." The left has perverted the concept of "separation of church and state" over the decades in order to attack religion.

I like Melania. I only wish that her husband's first name was Boris. I'd love to hear her say "Boris, you got fiendish plan?"

For those that are bothered by stuff like this ... you might want to never look up "Navy Hymn" ... Navy being part of the DoD and all.

The deliery could use some work but the content wasn't that bad.
