I have no problem with it. I'm just interested if she said the Roman Catholic or Protestant version of it.

Trump rally?

I'm a conservative and a Christian, but her doing that seemed to me to be awfully close to an endorsement of Christianity.

I'm agnostic and I don't have any issue with a non-governmental person reading the Lord's prayer in public.

While many first ladies seen unaware of this fact, it so happens that they aren't elected officials or government workers. They can endorse religion all they want

Nope. I found it refreshing. And I'm not a Christian.
Refreshing on a personal level. I get that. But you don't find it to be close to an endorsement of a religion?

Darn it. She said the protestant version of it. Must be pandering to the Southern Baptists.

Why would it be a problem if she endorsed Christianity?

Even if a president did this it would be ok.

As long as nobody is being forced into practicing or participating in a religion or a law is passed endorsing a religion, the first amendment is not being violated.

"Seperation of church and state" is not in the constitution.

"Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven."

Any guess at who said that. This kind of thinking blows my mind. On one hand you believe that God created the universe, sent His son to die for you because you were a sinner. On the other hand, you are uneasy that the First Lady read Jesus' words?

Maybe you assume God isnt it control? Maybe, Melania Trump reading HIS words will totally derail God's plans.

Seems you doubt the sovereignty of God? Those are dangerous waters you are in

A) this country was founded on Christian principles...regardless of how much some people want to stomp their feet and plug their ears and pretend like it didn't happen.

B) it's at a Trump rally, not before the state of the union address

C) it's the First Lady, not the president himself

D) so people have a problem with this, but don't have an issue with the presidential tradition of going to Christian services before inaugurations and things like that?

So what if they endorse it? It doesn't mean the government is all of a sudden going to make it mandatory.

I'm not very religious at all and I have no problem with it. It's a good message full of goodwill and solidarity. Hell, even the DNC did it in Philly IIRC and they're christianity haters.
