I don't think we're in cahoots with the Chinese in Africa at all. In fact, I guarantee the countries currently dealing with China would much rather deal with western nations. The Chinese are western colonialists x100. They're ready to frick Africa dry and they DGAF.

And yet look at how much money/resources has been funneled into Africa since 1950 . . . Trillions of dollars in aid and resources. Hell, the IMF has distributed net quantities of several billion dollars to "developed" African nations like Kenya in the last decade.

I read it a few days ago, but Africa gives out money in the way of resources (oil, minerals) than it receives. It's in perpetual debt.

There's either an Australian or French guy (can't remember which) that gives talks about aid to Africa and how it hurts sometimes or much of the time.

Engagement with the US, from business contacts to arms deals, almost always comes with some form of moral or human rights precondition. Whether you view that as hypocritical or not, it's a fact. We don't do no-strings deals.
China (and Russia if we're talking arms deals) are willing to put any concerns not tied to money or some simple political calculation aside when doing deals. Essentially when negotiating with the despots in Africa, they can develop a project that primarily benefits them but essentially requires nothing of the local government, and they'll even kick in enough economic incentive to keep all the key players happy. And by key players I mean those in government, not the people who typically resent that more focus isn't placed on hiring and training locals.

This in a nutshell is why the warlords will always remain powerful in countries like Sierra Leone. There is simply no governmental or cultural integrity to balance the bargaining position.

Africa is rich in natural wealth, and the poorest continent in natural infrastructure. Colonialism created the only decent nations there via bringing in and building modern infrastructure. Even then, it's at a huge disadvantage and will always be.

I for one did know this...no arguement from me...on another note to Scruffy, WE did not destroy these countries, the international bankers put them in debt in order to keep them basically enslaved...now they have done this to Europe, the USA, etc...the vast majority of Americans are decent folks...but the politicians sold our national soul out long ago to the money men...that's how we got the Federal Reserve and the IRS...and guess who controls the CIA?????
