Obama administration: Russia firing artillery at Ukraine military targets

quote:

Obama administration officials said Thursday that Russia is firing artillery from its own territory into Ukraine to hit Ukrainian military sites, pointing to escalating Russian involvement in the deadly conflict.

"This clearly is a military escalation," Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren said, adding there is no question that Russian military -- as opposed to Russia-backed separatists -- are firing the shots.

I guess thats what happens when the entire Ukrainian government basically resigns in one day.

Found an image on a different news source. Supposedly this was someone's living room that was struck by a shell, that purportedly originated from Russian territory.

And what would you like us to do about the situation? Send in Troops? Bomb the Russians?

Sounds like O has actually handled this the best he could in initiating sanctions and now Italy and others are beginning to come on board.

I've never had any confidence in the guy, but I never thought O would be inept enough to let the Soviet Union start rebuilding.

That's what it sounds like to me too.

I can't speak to my opinion on involvement, but either way, this is some messed up shite.

If only the Ukranian prime minister and his cabinet had an opinion on these latest development...oh wait...

Before or after he starts launching into a comedy routine at a $10k per plate fundraiser? Or does he just reserve that kind of tactfulness after mass civilian killings? We can only hope the state department is coming up with some very cleverly worded #Hashtags to confront this growing crisis.

I think he has too. It is too bad the Europeans won't step up to the plate-Germany in particular. I understand they are in a tough situation re Russian gas but without them the reaction is toothless.

Your brand of diplomacy is reactive and not very subtle.
Step 1. Wait
Step 2. Sanctions

Its the behind the scenes diplomacy, threats, deals and arm pulling that gets things done or prevented. You act like ALL of it is out front and known and thats it. You must be a sh!tty chess player.

Now I think he and Clinton majorly fricked up relations and our control over them with the whole "Reset" mantra at the beginning of this administration.... However, in the current predicament, there isn't much we can do.

This isn't the Soviet Union. Let's not play the hyperbole game. There was a Russia long before the USSR. When a Communist regime takes power in Russia then you can reasonably ponder the ascension of another Soviet Union.
