I read a study, I believe from fivethirtyeight, that suggested that millenials who came up under Bush are generally liberal, but that those who came up under Obama lean conservative more often than not.

Let's hope there is hope for our future. We sure could use it.

In some views, yes. Their overall ideology is more "mixed". Think socially as classic liberals, politically as classic conservatives. AKA - not like anyone in politics today that calls themselves either.

I can completely live with that.

Depends. If you went to three graduation ceremonies in major metropolitan areas in the cities and inner-ring suburbs which tend to be more liberal you'd hear different things.

Perhaps. But hell, even in what are normally conservative bastions, today's millennials are off the rails.

Um. Who do you think makes up the bulk of college students?

If college students were a political reflection of the adults paying their way, college campuses wouldn't be the cesspools they've become.

I know my students who just graduated are aware of the wackos, but then again I made sure that they were aware of how crazy certain college campuses have become.

From my experience in higher ed - the smarter, overachieving kids are normally conservative. The safe spacers are typically middle of the pack or low.

My anecdotical evidence:

Two students.

Student A is spending the summer studying abroad at Oxford. She comes to me a month in advance and states that her brother is graduating high school on the day of our final exam and wants to make arrangements to take it early. No problem. She was an excellent student and was very conservative in her writings and attitude toward "safe spaces."

Student B missed the maximum number of days allowed before an automatic failing. She was 45 minutes late to the final because she overslept. She is the ring leader of the limited SJW movements on campus. She loved writing and talking about the gender pay gap.

Also, Ive noticed that regardless of race, the single mom raised kids seem to be super liberal. Nuclear family raised kids seem to be conservative.

Are you new to the internet? The generation behind millenials is very very intelligent. They will be a generation of classic liberals

Generation Z is supposed to lean conservative.

How the generations play out is always very interesting.

The Depression Generation (Greatest Generation) - They had nothing and gave everything. They were very strict and hard on their kids and did not have much to give them but advise.

The Baby Boomers - Were given growth and prosperity, however focused on themselves since they never had much. Tended to be absent parents and kids were given wide leeway to raise themselves.

Generation X - Responded to having absent parenting with helicopter parenting. They birthed the participation trophy kids. This got us to our current state

Generation Y (That generation we hate) - Were coddled by their parents and were give a trophy for just being alive. Most of our PC and SJW is from here. Have a rough time with the lack of opportunities with Baby Boomers/Gen X still lingering in the work place and jobs being automated with technology. Led to believe a college degree is a requirement.

Generation Z (Current generation) - Generation is being produced from Gen X and Gen Y, since many Gen X are having kids later in life. The first truly connected generation with technology, with many kids able to work phones, computers and tablets before they can read. Growing up in PC and SJW world and seeing how no progress is being made forward with focusing on peoples feelings. Generally are focused on making the world a better place.

Wut

It's the safe space crowd that are actively shutting college Republican events down

I remember someone handing me that fricking Dr. Spock book and thinking, "you have to be shitting me". Thank God I didn't get on board.

Unfortunately, my peers? Yeah. frick those morons.

I think this is the first group that has seen nothing other than the SJW world.

While millennials developed it and so, feel emotionally attached to it, the group after them is the one being forced to live in the pigeon holes.

More to the point, like all things left, it probably would still be popular if they were still just fighting for equal treatment and opportunity. But now, they've gone all in to eating their own.

I suspect the following generation has noticed........"wait, there's no pleasing these frickers".

I have zero sympathy for millennials.

Sure, their helicopter parents are to blame, but, IDGAF. At some point, once you're an adult, you have to get your shite together.

Except the liberals consider the entire college campus as their safe spaces, so, yes....it is different.

No. You are incorrect.

Those folks are starting to learn some rather harsh realities now....and that is bad news for all of us.

You guys do realize that plenty of liberals call out the SJWs right? Even the evil liberal media calls out, for example, the hypocrisy of the Berkeley protests.

Stop painting with broad strokes and you'll get a clearer picture of reality.
