They're public servants and should be treated as such. We don't shite on the members of our military that are leeches.

This has nothing to do with a simple "political agenda". POTUS Trump said for over a year that he would cut govt waste in spending & this is exactly what he is doing. The EPA stopped being a mediator of issues in the last 8 years and turned into a full blown law making agency on its own, with Obama's support & approval. As noted before, just how worried about those losing their jobs in the oil industry down here? And it is not just Joe Smith The Welder, restaurants, the medical profession, hotels, stores, car sales, all feel the ripple effect of the mass lay offs in the industry. Not to mention their families. Care to register a guess how many LOST their mortgages?

Are you trying to argue the EPA cost those oilfield workers their jobs?

Taste of their own medicine, perhaps? This is reminiscent to what the EPA and Obama did to the coal industry, the petroleum industry, and people who were forbidden to build on their own land because somebody found a "rare" spider in their backyard, or a ditch on their property was deemed a watershed.

And it killed the coal industry.

Bush did more to destroy the coal industry than Obama did.

"The petroleum industry did really well under Obama"? You have no clue. If it did so well, why are companies shutting down & laying off, literally, 1000's of employees? Drive over to Houston & make that statement. To N.O. To any La. or Ala. or Miss. or Texas city on the Coast. Walk up to the dentist's desk in Lafayette & ask her how their business is doing? Stop in a restaurant & look at all the empty tables. Really well??? Good Lord.

It has taken a downturn, but the O&G industry was doing really well until the past year or two. I don't follow the industry all that closely, but it seems OPEC flooded the global supply which drove down the price per barrel to the point where extraction costs exceeded revenue. At least that's how I understand it at a very rudimentary level, admittedly.

Certainly Obama and the EPA has done some things to make the industry tougher to survive(this coming from a friend in the field that voted for Clinton) but it seems market conditions have had a bigger impact on the downturn.

yeah...the downturn for O&G wasn't the fault of Obama or the EPA

I live in Houston, so yeah I have a pretty good sense of what is happening.

Obama was president for 8 years. From 2008 through most of 2015 the oil and gas industry did well.

Even though there was a downturn in late 2015-present that had nothing to do with any action or inaction of Obama. That is the free market for you.

I am sorry I used the word "industry," which you seem to have gotten hung up on. I was alluding to offshore workers who needlessly sat idle under Obama's punitive offshore drilling moratorium(s), and while the EPA's "studies" intentionally dragged on and on.

Yea I work with the EPA and my boss today said they had a conference call and were reassured that there was no freeze on grants and basically that the program we work with would be fine.

Thanks for revealing the truth that the Facebook post from and "EPA insider" is more Fake News from the world's greatest purveyors of Fake News -- the Democrat Party.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but it's a privilege to work at the pleasure of taxpayers. At least IMO. I know everyone doesn't see it that way, and I know a lot of guys who would be crushed if they lost their military /gov jobs. I know a few who have been crushed losing their private sector jobs too. It's part of life. I truly don't want people in government to suffer through downsizing and hiring freezes. I believe that we have to break a few eggs to make the omelet, except this time they will be government eggs and not civilian.

Military and civilian folks that draw a paycheck from Uncle Sam should all be ready to be RIF'ed at any time.

The reason why the Federal civilian workforce is almost totally devoted to the Democrat Party is because the this party stands for growing FedGov -- ALWAYS looking to grow FedGov. Bigger and bigger EPA means more promotions for the employees which = higher pay.

The EPA currently has 15,000 employees. Fifteen thousand civilian employees. That is a reinforced heavy Division of three full strength combat brigades. That's more civilian FedGov employees in the EPA than there are troops stationed at Fort Polk -- in fact by thousands!

But even more important than the sheer monstrous bloated and wholly unjustified SIZE of the EPA is the fact that it has been politicized. Most folks in this agency see the mission as one of being activists for the Green Movement.
Well, this is an unacceptable mutation. The EPA belongs to the Executive Branch and needs a haircut. Trump is the barber.

Oh how I love this. Those bastards all but put me out of business. I finally, after years, sold the business and said the heck with it. Also, there went 45 jobs and 9 branchs I had that took care of all the people around this area.
