My thoughts are that Carrington and Battle are as now the two to beat. Fund raising starts June 5th and that will be a good indicator of who the real players are going to be.

She is 72 and a lush, so i doubt it. However, this is AL.

Pretty sure Ivey has said she is seriously considering a run.

I doubt she does though.

Richard Shelby calls her a whipper snapper.

Carrington has been climbing the ladder for a while now. We've dealt with him a good bit here in Vestavia. Not sure what his stances are, but he's been pretty responsive whenever we've asked for something.

Carrington thinks he's a big deal. He's not. There will be much money wasted.

If Kay Ivey keeps her current course she'll have my vote. I don't care if she drinks a liter of whiskey before 5 pm.

I would selfishly like Battle to stay in Huntsville

I think he would still be able to bring a lot to Huntsville as Governor. Business knows that whole area has its $hit together to go along with an educated and labor ready populace.

I bet Ivey runs. I think her ascension to the Governor's office is what scared off Tuberville. They were both going to be battling for the same pool of AU donors in order to get their campaigns off the ground.

BTW, I went to some charity deal last weekend and met Tuberville. I completely revise my statement that he would be a (relatively) good governor. I think he'd be horrible. He'd be better than Roy Moore but that isn't saying much. Battle has my vote and it's not close at this moment.

Also, has anyone else seen the book Jim Zeigler wrote about himself getting elected Governor? What a loon. God help us if that nut actually won. LINK

I played golf with Tuberville once. He's a nice guy, but no way would I ever vote for him for governor.

Wasn't exactly expecting him to knock my socks off but I wasn't impressed.

The funny thing is he said the door is still open and he might jump back in the race. Never change Tommy.

We need to stop electing people from Birmingham and Montgomery and Tuscaloosa to be Governor. These are breeding grounds for corruption and incompetence. Huntsville has carried this state for the past few decades and is kicking every other cities arse in pretty much every category that matters. It is Battle time.

To be fair though I am a huge fan of Walt Maddox.

Then you are a fool. Maddox was HORRIBLE in the post tornado reconstruction.

I would not support Walt to open a lemonade stand.

Dragging his feet while business owners (Evan Smith at Krispy Kreeme comes to mind) could not rebuild while they try to figure out what to do.

For like a damn year. So if someone were do give him the benefit of the doubt that he was studying how to make that area better than it was, then he screws the pooch by not fixing the intersections and roads first. Then after the city finally issues building permits for Midtown and all the other things they take another 3 years to finish a couple of turn lanes and new lights.

It was ridiculous. Granted he was not responsible for all the delays and mistakes but he sure didn't try to get anything done any quicker.
